Vacation

I have made it 7 days at my parents and 5 at my inlaws. Its been fun. I am ready for the warmer weather of Texas. I like the cold weather but this rainy 50 degree weather is a little to in between for me. Either snow so we can sled or get warm so we can get outside.
Christmas went well - its fun being an adult because there is not as many things that I want and the few I do, I'm lucky enough to get. I really wanted a Ohio State jersey, the second season of Nip Tuck and Madden 2006 - got 'em all!! I also got a cool book about the CIA from my sis!
I now enter into the slowest time of the year, not much to do with my team and almost done with recruiting. I watch a lot of high school games and spend more time with the boys. Its not a bad gig.
Kelly asked me the other day if I ever thought what life would be like with Owen in the family. I really haven't thought about it much. A baby again - its been six years since Evan was a baby. I am going to have a small adjustment to my routine. Baby's tend to render me useless. I'm not really good with them - their fun to hold but the whole vulnerability of the child freaks me out. I'm much better with my maturity level - the famed toddlers! Anyway it will be another wild ride with the whole baby stage. Thank goodness my beautiful wife is great with the small creatures.

Damon!

Its been a weird week in sports. The Damon thing is just ridiculous. By the way he is no longer "Johnny Damon" I prefer Damon. Say it fast and it sounds like "Darn him" - can't type cuss words this is a family show.
Heres my letter to Damon -

Hey cool guy,
Thanks for your years in Boston, you were truly a great player for the Bosox. You were the perfect guy for us. You were a leader in the clubhouse, a great leadoff hitter, stole some bases and had reallly cool hair. Theres just a couple things that you need to know. By the major league baseball standards, you are a B+ leadoff hitter, didn't steal all that many bases, the yankees don't need another leader and your hair is not allowed in the communistic society that is the yankees. Now don't get me wrong we will miss you and it won't be the same. I know, I know, the Yanks offered you 12 million more than our Bosox's did. We only offered you 40 million for four years. Its got to be an insult that we only thought ten million a year was your worth. I mean we got swept out of the playoffs last year, you sucked by the way, so we may need a few of our dollars to go and improve but a man needs respect. The Yankees gave you that, your a professional athlete who apparently needs to be respected. In fact I think we insulted you with our ten million dollar a year offer and for that, my friend, I apoligize for the Red Sox. Have a great time playing for a team that buys World Series Titles - wait I know the Bosox have a big payroll but you have to admit - we won on chemistry and destiny. Your yankees will win on egos and ummmm sell outs.

P.S. Tony Dungy's (Coach for the Indianapolis Colts) 18 year old son died on Thursday. Tony is one of the classiest coaches in the League and a professed Christian. Even if he wasn't these things, my heart would still go out for his family. I won't act like I understand what him and his family is going through and to be honest I hope I never have to.

What??

We made it, we are now in the Buckeye state (Ohio). It was a good trip. Drove 95% of the way but I'm not complaining - it seems the older I get the more controlling I seem to get. Very odd for me.
Sunday was not a good day. How in the world do the Cowboys get their meal money stolen from them that bad. The Redskins - are you kidding me? How do we let the Deadskins beat us up like elementary school children on a junior high playground? We can't run the ball and we have the Statue of Liberty back there as a QB. Bless Bledsoe's heart he is good but we have to hold our blocks for thirty seconds to let him get set or he's a dead man. The defense is just getting wore down and our special teams, well there, special alright. Special like when you stick your finger in a light socket four straight times, expecting not to get shocked each time.
Heres the cherry on top of my brocoli sundae. Johnny Damon has signed with the Yankees. Alyssa, that would be like the Gap selling all its product to Kmart and Kmart raising the prices. No clue if that helps but thats all the analogies I have for you. Johnny the heart of my beloved Bosox has signed with the %$#@&*@*&^%$# yankees. Honesty Johnny, the yankees? I can honestly say that hearing that news really put me in a bad mood. My wife always teases me about taking my sports to seriously but I told her the news and she was amazed. I'm sure inside she was outraged - she hides her feelings well. I'm really not sure what to do now - be mad at the Red Sox's for not working hard to resign him orrrr mad at Johnny "the Traitor" Damon for well being a traitor. I'll stick with my anger for the long haired Damon. I have nothing more to say the pain is still to real!

Homeward

I love the snow, the North, my parents and sister but hate the drive home. I'm what some would call a worrier, others a pessimist (I personally like a realist). The 16 hours of driving are not fun filled. I will be honest and say they are somewhat peaceful especially considering we are taking a couple boys, pregnant wife, suitcases, presents and a black Lab. I just hate the possibility of bad weather and longgg drive. We will try to leave on Saturday morning early, which means an hour after I plan to leave ( for the above reasons), and drive straight through to the glorious state of OHIO. It is a pretty drive and not usually that many problems with traffic. I plan to watch football all day on Sunday and then slowly get stir crazy as the week goes on and I sit in my house. No its not that bad, we will play in the snow, go see a movie, out to eat and all that jazz. I do like the time with family its the drive that gets me. The next time we talk it will be from a computer in my old bedroom in the Trimble household.

Cowboys Game

I got the chance to go to the Cowboys game Sunday against the Chiefs! What a great game. We, of course, won the game. I had a chance to be in a giant suite and eat lunch during the game with T.V.'s so I could watch other games at the same time. Are you kidding me? I decided to sit outside with "the people" and be a real fan. Ahhh the sacrifices us big timers make to be amoungst the "lil people". It was a great time though. I would like to personally thank my beautiful wife for giving me the opportunity to go. Although it would have been a major blow to our marriage if she decided to balk at the idea. We leave on Saturday for the great North and the fun will begin. Ahh the fun of Christmas break: watching the kids, sitting watching t.v., reading a book and the most important thing- not answering my phone!!

A few thoughts

Please feel free to take the questions in the last blog and still answer them. I do have a few thoughts about getting older...

Its amazing as I get older: how much I love being around my boys!

Its amazing as I get older: how I hate to talk on the phone.

Its amazing as I get older: how much more beautiful my wife becomes everyday.

Its amazing as I get older: How I miss my family.

Its amazing as I get older: How much I still hate losing at anything!

Its amazing as I get older: How sore I am when I try to still be an athlete.

Its amazing as I get older: How I just realized I'm recruiting girls who were born in 1988 - my Junior year in high school

Its amazing as I get older: How my hyperactivity made me a pain in the neck when I was younger to so many patient people.

Its amazing as I get older: How much more beautiful my wife becomes everyday.

Its amazing as I get older: How harder being a teenager and college student it is in this day and age!

Its amazing as I get older: How I wish I knew when I was younger, how much I need God.

American Express survey

In my new Sports Illustrated there were three pages with Tiger Woods, MikeKrzyzewski, and Laird Hamilton answering questions on a page by themselves. They each answered the same questions and it was very interesting to read. For Example, Tiger's childhood ambition was to beat his dad in golf while Laird's was to be a great waterman. Coach K's retreat is his yard while Tiger's retreat is underwated spearfishing. First job for Tiger cart boy, for Coach K it was being in the Army. Coach K's alarm is his two dog's Cameron and Defense, while Tiger answered it 5:00 a.m. sharp. I will now take the test and encourge you all to answer a few of these same questions on my comments.

Name: Jeff Trimble
Childhood ambition: To be a forest ranger
Fondest Memory: working and playing outside with my friends and family
Soundtrack: Barry Manilow's greatest hits
Retreat: reading a good book
Wildest Dreams: To win a National Title
Proudest Moment: watching my kids do anything - preferably good.
Biggest Challenge: not procrastinating
Alarm clock: My dog Dakota
Perfect Day: In the Fall, college soccer practice then watching football all day.
First job: Working on a pig farm
Indulgence: buying books
Last Purchase: buying a steak monday night
Favorite Movie: Dances with Wolves
Inspiration: My parents and trying to be Christ like
My life: Consistent

Recruiting Times

How was all of ya'll's Thanksgivings?? I spent the Holiday in Dallas recruiting from Thursday night until Sunday afternoon. It was fun though there was a lot of talent, this year! Tooo much talent. I don't have a ton of scholarship money available, unless I take some from my current players. So you know the decision that has to be made. I have to make the Jedi-like decision to either go after some players that look good in these club games or stick with my current ones. This year will be more of the go after thing (we were 9-9-2) because we need to get better. Fun times at band camp for some of my girls.

Yesterday we set up for Christmas. I was like Clark (Sparky) Griswald hanging those lights. I'm here today by the Grace of God and a capable if not wobbly ladder. I love this time of year! My wife somehow has purchased 3 CD's of crap Christmas music Randy Travis singing Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer, stuff like that. Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole maybe even a lil Dean Martin is a little more of my flavor.

O.K. kiddo's whats your favorite Christmas song and who sings it? Me? you ask, well mine is ....White Christmas by Nat King Cole. Nothing better

Alec and I are up at school right now. We just got back from a trip to McDonalds for breakfast and now (as we watch cable in my office) I will type this then clean this disorganized office. A is watching some cartoon about imaginary friends (which is annoying to me - very unrealistic) and eating his pancakes with his hands (His mom would die).
This will be a fun week because we will do nothing!! Thanksgiving of course is tomorrow: great food and two football games. I will then leave tomorrow night for recruiting in Dallas for three days. I love that because I get to see the girls I have offered money to for next year play and hope they accept my offers. So this would be the same way I have spent the last 11 Thanksgiving weekends. I love routines! In fact I truley feel sorry for you shoppers on Friday. How in the world can you do that? Crowds, noise, parking and having to walk walk walk to shop shop shop. Ya'll have serious problems! Anyways I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving!

Favorite Thanksgiving foods
1. Turkey
2. Mashed potatoes
3. Green Beans
4. Augratin Potatoes
5. Gravy

Foods to avoid on T- Day
1. Sweet Potatoes
2. Stuffin
3. Anything else not on the above list

Meeting statement

After the season is over I have individual meetings with the girls. Its always very stressful for some of them, I guess scared of what I will say. I was going through my files the other day and heres a statement that I used to give them. I was much more clever in my youth.

I, understand that this meeting is about me, myself, and I. Coach’s goal is to give me feedback and suggestions on how to improve the way I play and to answer any questions I may have. I will not be concerned with what he is saying to other players, all I will be concerned about is myself. Coach has no deep diabolical agenda to weaken me or lead me astray with the information he gives me. He really wants me to know how the coaching staff views my skills and role on the team. I will receive his version of reality and sometimes that reality will make me happy, mad, sad, or maybe even bored. Despite what Jack Nicholson’s character (Colonel Jessup) says in “A Few Good Men”, I feel that I can handle the truth.

I just talk to them now without having to sign this. I'm getting boring in my old age!

Footballism

Hi, I'm Jeff Trimble, I'm 35 years old and I'm an addict. I love football! I watched three games yesterday without a thought to the contrary. After church I watched two games back to back then took a break for two hours before the Sunday night game last night. There was one point in which my wife asked me if I really did enjoy watching all this football. I honestly looked, blinked and slowley said "YES". I have to admit I laid on my back the entire time and didn't miss a snap - except for switching to NASCAR race. My back is killing me from just laying there. It was a great afternoon, I never get to do that. I picked the worst job for my addiction to college and pro football. All I do is work weekends and I'm always gone! BIG game tonight, my lil peeps, Dallas vs. Philly. I have started getting nervous already. I will get to Rob's at 7pm for an hour of pre - game then the kick -off. I cannot wait!!

Boredom

Imagine that - I'm blogging again. This is what happens when I have nothing to do for the next 40 weeks. I hate the finality of the finality. I know the season is over but to know the season is over a week later is just as hard. Ahhh but its time to finish up recruiting! This is almost as stressful as coaching a game. I have probably 100 girls that have written me (at least) now they have written 20 other coaches so don't be impressed. Out of the 100 we are talking to probably 20 and trying to keep talking with them on a weekly basis is no easy task. The next step is to evaluate them and figure out how to use the scholarship money that we have to get these girls in. Trying to not over pay or insulte them with our offer is a fiasco also. The joys of coaching!
I am loving the first season of LOST! The show is brillant! Almost done with it and we have TIVO'd the entire second season thus far so I will be up to speed in a week or so!
Presently I am having the end of the season individual meetings with all the girls. Brutal honesty is a crazy thing! Its hard investing in these girls and trusting them and then telling some of them that we will be moving on without them. But we were...wait for it...9-9 this year - the ship is sailing my lil players!!

You're A Joke

Thursday November 3 -
12:43pm - "You're a joke Sir" - Jeff
12:34pm - "Keep your mouth shut coach" (displays a yellow card) - Ref.
1:02pm - "that was a hand ball, C'mon sir" - Jeff
1:03 - "I'm warning you coach" - Ref.
1:05pm - "Was that a hand ball?" (said sarcastically) - Ref.
1:05pm - "Shut up!" - Jeff
1:05pm - "Thats it!" (red card displayed) - Ref
1:05pm - 3:05pm - I watch the game from the hill overlooking the field
Ahhh yes, my lil pretties, the joys of getting kicked out of your first soccer game as a coach (in the Conference Quarter-finals)! Basically, I called the Ref. a joke, got a warning (yellow card) then after he thought he was funny, by being sarcastic with me, I lost a lil control and told him to shut up. So my assistant takes over and I go to the showers. My team won in a shoot out (penalty kicks) but in soccer a red card carries a game suspension for the game after the game you receive it in. So I miss the semi final game against our rivals the next day (West Texas). Now soccer is not like football or basketball where the coach makes a lot of game time decisions but we do substitute and change the way we play at times during the game. My poor assistants had to get my team through a penalty shoot out (pick the five shooters). The next day the girls stepped up and played incredible! We won in the first overtime and went to the Conference finals for the first time since 1999. We did lose in the finals 1-0 but it was an awesome game and weekend. A lot of drama and nerves, I couldn't watch the shoot out (in the quarter finals) so I stayed in the gym til I heard cheering and looked out to see us win! I did see the game winner in the semis and that was the best I have felt all year. I came back onto the field and got mobbed by my girls. Even though we lost in the finals it was a great way to end a weird year!

Hottie

Whats up homies! Holy cow dressing up like a girl is no fun. If I now have your attention, I was a women's soccer player on Saturday night. My wife was the coach - it was good times. I'm sure I will never live this down but I can always say that I dressed like a female once in my life. The stuffed sports bra was the toughest challenge. It got very hot and good grief those straps rubbed the crap out of my shoulders. I do have the skinny legs of a girl so at least something looked good.
We won yesterday against one of the worst team in the league. I honestly about just checked out when we were down 1-0 with five minutes left buttt we scored and then won in double overtime. We finished the regular season 8-8 and have the conference tournament coming up this week. We will play Angelo State University (we beat them earlier this year) on Thursday and when we win (fingers crossed) we will play on Friday in the semi finals.
Tonight's trick or treat so fun times with Daniel Boone (Alec) and my lil dragon (Evan). I'm not big on candy so this "holiday" is a little wasted on Jeffy. My kids will have fun and it will be great walking twenty miles, dodging cars, telling the kids to share, and trying to stay a tight cohesive family!

Good times

Well the White Sox won the world series and now thankfully there is no more baseball. Once the Reds and the Red Sox are out of it - the playoffs become dull.
My parents and sister just left after being here for close to a week and that went really well. It helps that both boys are in school so my sister, wife and mom can do things and not have to keep track of the boys and the chaos that involves. We won two and lost one while they were here so Dad got to see some games and some wins. Plus he fixed the boys treehouse so its good times for all the Trimble's.
The more I think about this boy thing the better I feel. After three months my college girls are wearing me out - so a twenty year opportunity of raising a girl may not be all its cracked up to be for me. Don't get frazzled I'm talking about myself. Realism and logic are a big part of my thinking (believe it or not) and the female creature can be at times different from those attributes. Guys are no slice of heaven but I can relate to a guy's mind set (obviously) a little better. Its getting old correcting a player and having them cry, then my assistant telling me that shes (player) had a bad day and thats why the player is crying. I'm also getting close to burnout time of the year and so this all is just basically venting. Right? Is it bad when your chest hurts and you have shortness of breath?

I'm Back

I would like to give a shout out to all my homies down on fifth avenue. I have no clue what that means but felt like typing it. Its been awhile! I will no longer neglect my blogging like I have - I'm ashamed. I am now ready for the task of keeping up with this responsibility.
Its a boy! Wow - I have to admit I would have liked a girl butttt I'm telling ya the thought of three boys and paying for no weddings is not a bad gig. I am excited about another boy though - it sounds strange - I know - but the more I think about it the more excited I am to have three sons. I'm telling ya the minute we started the sonogram I knew it was a boy. My poor wife was like "I have no clue what a girl sonogram looks like" - poor thing. Things are going really well in this pregnancy and Kelly looks awesome.
Its homecoming weekend here at MSU. We have a game tonight at 5pm and hopefully we wiill win. Last night was the all important bonfire in which I talked to 250 drunk college kids and tried to get them fired up to attend our game tonight. Good times. My parents are in this week so the house is a little crowded but its all good. Thats it players but fret not I will return soon!

Personality victory

There are a few people we all have trouble getting along with. Well add a competition factor into that equation and its really fun winning certain games. Sunday was one of those games. The coach from Mesa State gets on my nerves at times. He yells for his girls not to worry all there doing is playing the ball long .. Well excuse me but your defenders are slow and we have had three breakaway opportunities in the last five minutes. He also, when he got lucky enough to tie the game, asked his girls to waste time to get to overtime. I know he wanted that but to yell across the field to his player to waste time is bush league! Then taking about forty minutes to shake my hand after the game was more than enough for me to take him off my schedule for next year. We did win the game and I am happy with our three game winning streak butttt we have our rivals - West Texas University next! That game will be up there (Canyon, Texas) a place where we have never won. Fun times!
I won my first Fantasy Football league game this week! The rookie has a victory! I have a new energy and will be a force to be reckoned with from now on out!
West Wing is slowly getting back to being a better show. Still the writing is good not great and there using only Josh in there prominent story lines. I'll survive though.
I got my new paycheck today - got a raise but funny thing - its twenty dollars fewer than before - thank you my new dental and health insurance... Depressing. Well I still have my looks (lost those day I was born), my health (my stomach is burning and I'm due for skin cancer at anytime), my family..Well that's a great thing so I'll cling to that (honey I'm going to Rob's tonight for Monday night football).
I have found that the relaxing, positive, loving KLOV is a new favorite. Its a Christian music station and I kinda like it!

Lost?

My precious wife and I have rented the first season of Lost. I watched the first three episodes last night - bed time 3:00a.m. Magnificent!! Phenomenal! J.J. Abrams - creator - is a genius. I am hooked. Matthew Fox is one cool dude. Anyway I thought the scenery is awesome (I know its shot in Hawaii, Alyssa) , characters are well developed, and the story line is very well written. If I had three thumbs then it would be three thumbs up!
We won our game - two in a row! A cold front blew in during the game and it was a thirty mile an hour wind all game so it made it a tad difficult to play controlled - for all you non coaches that's like playing out of control. Coach lingo can be very hard to understand! We did play well and won the game - so happiness rules again until we play tomorrow night against another ranked team.
I've gained my five extra pounds I always do in season - eating out fourteen times a week. Discouraging! I have got to start running in the mornings. My diet is a wreck. Salt and fried foods seem to have taken my body hostage! Here I am complaining and I can't stand when people act like they have no control over themselves. Choices, Jeff its all in the choices you make!

Press Conference

I will never be a "big time player in a big time program" so I will hold my own little press conference.

"After a 2-4-1- start would this team be overrated, underrated, or par for course?"
With the injuries to a couple players and the teams I scheduled - I would have to say par for course.

"Same question but instead of team insert coach"
Well aren't you a nifty little reporter - next question!

"After beating Commerce will there be a let down against Texas women's University?"
Possible but not likely - we have had a week to come down from the win and reality is were going to have to work for every win.

"Jennifer Garner - married - disappointed?"
Tremendously

"Your a rookie coach in the OFFL (fantasy football league) and you are 0-3 - what's the deal?"
Well Peyton Manning is throwing like a school girl and my best receiver is on crutches for the year. Plus Ahman Green picked a great year to rush for twenty yards a game and treat the end zone like a disease! (something to stay away from)

"Rumor has it you have admitted to wanting a girl when your wife delivers your third child - true?"
Lies and innuendos will get you no where - that being said, it is true.

"Follow up question - why the sudden change?"
I really don't know - it would seem fun to have a daughter to take care of from birth till marriage - a welcomed and loved responsibility - hard to explain. I guess I would want to always feel needed.

"A recent fashion magazine has stated - and I'm quoting here - 'Jeff Trimble's fashion sense would make a hardened criminal cry like a two year old' - comment?"
Are you kidding me - My Nike's with khakis and a polo are all the rage on campus. Black shoes brown belt!

"Jennifer Garner - married - any other comments?"
Your trying to antagonize me now!

Midwestern 1 Commerce 0

Unbelievable. We won against the 17th ranked team in the nation. We played great the first half and get kicked from here to Utah in the second but hung on to go to overtime. FYI... this is our fourth overtime game in seven games. These overtimes are sudden death so its just completely agonizing! There are two overtime periods both ten minutes long then if no one scores we get a tie. Wellll ... second overtime ...1 minute 30 seconds left ... we get a corner kick put it back post... they clear it... my FRESHMAN forward steps up and shoots it into the corner. The guys team was there so they ran out on the field my team ran out from the bench and everyone partied. I stood there in total shock and walked over to shake the other coaches hand who likewise was in shock for another reason. I don't know what to think anymore, I'm just going to coach my best and try not to read into anything my team does.
So I get to work today and 15 minutes into my work day a worker in the central plant fell into some electrical wires and blows the power to 75 % of campus. He got taken to the hospital and is burned but o.k. Now we have close to 6,500 students standing outside all the buildings and an ambulance and eight fire trucks on campus. There was smoke going through our underground tunnels and into every building. Obviously I am typing this from the house because we're off until 8 a.m. tomorrow. Crazy stuff!
I'm home trying to mow buttt no gas in the mower so I'm typing away until I meet Kel for lunch then grab some gas. Fun times at the Trimble house today!

Classic!

I think this is what I get from not appreciating my 12-4 year last year. We have currently lost three games all in the last three minutes and all (of course) by one goal each. We have a good defense so close games are nothing new except for the fact that we usually win some!!
On the positive side I did get to watch my favorite romantic comedy - Notting Hill - on the trip! I love that movie. "Classic" "I'm just a girl standing in front of a guy wanting him to love her" Are you kidding me? If Julia Roberts said that I would - well who knows but it would break me! "classic" Everything that happens to Hugh Grant that's bad in the movie he responds with "classic" You have to love British humor!
We play Texas A&M @ Commerce tomorrow - 15th in the nation - Classic!
I watched 5 minutes of The Natural on T.V. the other day - why does the woman (Barbara Hershey) shoot Roy (Robert Redford) in the hotel room? Someone please tell me because it went to commercial after the scene and then I got distracted and didn't finish watching it! I need this answer!
Loving my Men's Bible study on Tuesday mornings but getting up early just about kills me. Monday night football at Rob's then the 6a.m. wake up is brutal - but I am going to make them both work or my name isn't Jeff Trumble!
Have I ever stated how much I hate the phone - I sit here and type and the thing just rings like crazy. Its not that I don't have the time to answer - I just hate talking to people on it!

Therapy

I need therapy today so I'm blogging two days in a row. If you read my wife's blog you heard about my game. We did win but it may be a challenging year. You have to understand that challenging at MSU is a tad different. There is a big soccer tradition here and challenging is a season close to .5oo ( thats a even win/ loss record). Before I start to try to get everyone to tear up, its not like this is Notre Dame football. No one will get fired if the season turns out disappointing but it is rough dealing with parents, players and "know it alls" in the community if my team doesn't live up to expectations. Its early in the season and we have 14 more games so I'm sure it will be a fun blogging fall.
My poor wife is about to die. Her allergies are killing her and I'm sure the pregnancy is not helping. Pray for her.
Alec and Evan are doing well. I can't wait to see them play sometime soon. I have a few more games of being on the road then will be home a lot more and can hangout with them!

Fantasy+Reality=Loser

Unbelieveable! Fridays game we lose (MSU W. Soccer) 2-1 with 13 seconds left in overtime. Fast Facts - I have never gotten scored on in a regular season game of any kind in the last five minutes. We had 13 seconds left, my people, 13 seconds in the second overtime! We had the ball 30 yards from the other teams goal! Then my back trys to chip the ball into the box and hits a player and they kick it long and Zoommm they get a breakaway! Where were my defenders - well watching the supposed "chip" into the box get kicked off someone. I just stood there after the game - had no clue how to react! So I get home comforted only by the fact the Buckeyes would beat the over rated Horns in the horseshoe. Well heck no we can't get that accomplished. We can't even drive more than 20 yards in the second half. Ahhh but I have the fantasy football Sunday to comfort me. Lost 700-5 and my best receiver blows his ACL! Well no worries we have a practice on Monday where one of my better players can at least roll her ankle bad enough to miss the rest of the year! At least I got that accomplished! Sorry Sarah Nelson but at least we can red-shirt her! So I sit here ready for a game tonight that we "should" win and dread the fact that we "should" win it. Plus side? Cowboys won, One son scored two goals (that I didn't see) on Saturday - other played well in the goal, Car got fixed - under warrenty, and oh yeah... the Eagles lost!

Weekend

Good times this weekend. After tieing my game on Friday night 0-0 (we cannont score) I had the OFFL draft for my fantasy league. The guys in this league are great. We actually had a draft - you can't guess how long I've waited to actually be part of a draft in football. I lucked out and got the second pick of the draft. Of course I took Peyton Manning and now its almost assured I will win the league. Well maybe not but its a big step in the right direction. After the pure domination at the draft, Alec and I headed out to the country to watch a friend dove hunt. Alec was the retriever and I was the lookout for the doves: those things can sneak up on you if your not careful. It was a good time. Alec got to shoot two shotguns and a 22 so he was very excited. Remember he was born in Texas. We then went back in town for a cookout.
Sunday was the Alumni game for my girls. It was awesome to see 21 of my girls come back to play against my team. It really is a highlight of my year and I thank God that I got to coach these girls and get to see them years later. Its good to see so many of them happy and successful.
Yesterday I watched game tape of Friday's game (still cannot score) and watched the Florida State vs. Miami game last night. It was the worlds worst college football game! Borringgg and thats odd because those games are usually very exciting. You'll notice that I didn't seem to spend a lot of time with the family this last weekend. So did my wife. I have to start to get better at that. With Evan in school now it seems like its harder and harder to get quality time with the boys. My day doesn't really get busy until about the time theirs is slowing down. Enjoy the time before your kids start school because it does get very easy to let the time fly bye.

Confessional

I, Jeffrey Scott Trimble, want a girl! I'm not lying, I would love to have a daughter! I want to have a girl who will tell my wife that.. " daddy is awesome" no matter what daddy does.
I want a cute lil girl I have to worry about and ...keep guys away from!
I wanna go prom dress shopping - you know why? - because it sounds like an adventure!
I wanna kick some guy's butt so that he will know how special my daughter is when he breaks her heart. ! Trust me I will!!
I wanna be 50 years old and know that I have a cute lil girl that relies on me to help her when she is out on a date! Call me Kate!
I want to walk a girl down the aisle.
I want to be the guy who is accused of pampering their one and only, ...their youngest child ....that - oh by the way - is a GIRL.
Sign me up! Kathryn Bella Trimble, if not, hey the third boy will do - it worked for the Mannings!! My oldest just pee'd in the shower standing up! That's a good consolation prize!

Ronald Reagan, sports and the young prince Woodard

Blockbuster.com has just delivered The Reagans to this blessed household. I have just watched the mini-series and have to say James Brolin did a great job as Reagan and loved the effort the mini-series gave. Lets be honest, I get very tired of the evaluations of our Presidents - they are human. I value Ronald Reagan as a great President, based on the fact that he maintained pride and confidence in this country. He made mistakes but as a teen growing up through his Presidential years we knew who was in charge and who would do something. Did he always - I have no clue, but it seemed he could communicate his plan and articulate what our direction as a country would be. I obviously did not learn this through the dang mini-series but was reminded of what I learned by watching him on television as a teen and remembering the feeling of confidence I had in him. The older we all get the more we will learn that our leaders are human whether we choose to admit this fact or not - who knows.
My Son has decided to play soccer after wanting to quit. The line "I don't raise quiters" was tempting to use when he told me he wasn't sure if he wanted to play this year but ----he's 8 yrs. old - c'mon. So I decided to just tell him that he needs to stay active (Karate) then he throws the "I miss soccer" thing at us tonight. He then goes to practice and plays hard and seems to enjoy it. I have to fall into the category of - I just want him to be happy (as long as its not too wild or weird). C'mon I'm human!
Can any of us wrap our minds and thoughts around whats going on down in the Gulf coast? All I can do is pray.
Shout out to Cayden Glen Woodard - may your nights be sleepy and your dreams be of sports - love ya!

Bruised, tired, happy/sad

We played the fourth ranked team in the nation yesterday and lost 1-0. Not bad is a thought, could've won is another, A loss is a loss could be used, @#%$&* not poetice but describes an emotion, but the truth is we played well. We lost but learned a lot and it doesnt affect us one bit. We still are 0-0 in the region and 0-0 in the conference. I love defense and we held one of the best offense's in the country to one goal. We'll live - right?
Sorry I havent written in a while, homies, but I have no excuse. I really am enjoying this one club team thing. I can't imagine having two club teams and a university team. I relaxed today and mowed this afternoon after working with one of my girls on shooting. Big kids school starts tomorrow so I actually have to go up to the office at a decent time and wear the old khaki's and collared shirt. Ahh the rough life that I have. I don't jet set around the country and the world like lil Joshy Burgess, Kirk goes to happy hour and comedy clubs four times a week, Alyssa is shaping the young minds of America with her teaching prowess and my wify is discovering the joys of no morning sickness and no kids in the house five days a week. I will have to get used to the job I have and stop envying the brillance of some of my friends and their jobs.

Bring on the rain!

I have read my wife's blog and understand she told you about our anniversary. Here's my take on the 12 years. They have been awesome - the one thing I cringe at is the "cookie cutter" descriptions of couples that are married for a long time. Some couples get along great for years and years without many problems and they seem to tackle life's challenges together. Give me a break - good for you couples. We have had high points and low points in our marriage/ challenges and rewards! I would have it no other way - it makes us stronger and keeps the years from going by to quickly. I don't want to have one disagreement with my wife every four years and sit on the front porch with only good times to talk about. I'm being serious - I want to make a mistake or get into it a little and learn from it. I don't want a calm to become a storm that is too overwhelming because the rain has never been felt. I like the rain showers and the sunshine. If the showers get to strong and a big storm comes then we are ready as a couple to handle it. Listen I have always worked to have consistency and calm in my life but sometimes its good to have passion and excitement and if I can have all of those things in a marriage then that's great. Guess what - we have them all and there great and I can't wait for another 12 years!
Love ya honey

Soprano's

Bless your lil soul's homies! I haven't told you about my season five of the Soprano's! Brillance is here and its name is Tony! I started and finishedthe season in about five days, Very good season, obviously, with Tony struggling as a boss, seperated hubby, and father (A.J. is becoming a brat). Christopher is slowly becoming more reliable to help run the family business and Adriana is slipping up on her commitments to the FBI. Ahh the thrill of a well written, well acted show!
We scrimmaged last night and beat my other team - my u-19 club team - 3-0. Wasn't too great after watching the film, we were sloppy. Not sure to chalk it up to rusty or sloppy but any game we score three goals I'll take. The girls have the morning off and I'll work them pretty hard tonight. It was hard to watch both teams play and not root for / against them. My gosh its hot - the girls will die tonight. I on the other hand will simply turn bright red from the sun and be close to death. Fun times in Wichita Falls.

Coaching

One of my least favorite things about coaching/training players is the assigning of who goes on road trips and who doesn't. We only will take twenty players with us on the 27th when we have our first out of town game. I have no problem confronting and correcting a player but putting a list up that has twenty names on it (who goes on the trip) and leaving ten is a struggle at times. I do want everyone to be happy sometimes - I do know a lot of these players get what they deserve. The cream does rise to the top. I do want to win more than lose and will not sacrifice that for the chance to "make someone's day". I just have to admit that I do feel their pain and embarrassment when they are excluded from the group for road trips. They will go through two weeks of two practices a day and sacrifice a lot of blood and sweat for this program - its hard for them to see the big picture at times.
I lost one of my starting defenders yesterday with a possible broken ankle - GREAT! There's nothing showing up on the X-ray but the will have to re examine the ankle in a couple days. I can't afford to lose too many defenders!
We are finally practicing on the field and itsss humid. A lot of water standing all over and 95 degree heat makes for fun practices!

Rants:
I don't understand Terrell Owens - I know the NFL has some dangerous contracts (they can cut you without having to pay out the full remainder of the contract) but its a seven year deal you signed - you can't renegotiate it after one year!

Glad the NHL is back - but - good gosh almighty who is playing for what team! Everyone is trying to get under the new salary cap and there are cuts and trades everywhere!

Little disappointed with Bravos new show Situation Comedy - a Project Greenlight kinda thing. People submit scripts and Sean Hayes (Jack on Will and Grace) and his producing "partner" pick the best two and present them to NBC. We get to follow all the drama along the way. Not as good as the Project Greenlight show but o.k.

Cool parents of a third grader

I won't go into much detail about the morning - because Kelly already did on her blog but it was fun. Its unbelievable that we have two in school. I was very proud of the boys for getting ready on their own and for Evan going right into his class. I do feel like we are too young to have a third grader but when the third child comes and they are in third grade we will definately be the oldest third grade parents! I would poke a little fun at the rookie school parents with the video and camera crews there for their childs baptism into school but we were like that so I'll let that go. Fun times had by all!
We have received an unbelieveable amount of rain the last three days! I have now kept my girls off the field for five practices. We cancelled our scrimmage for tonight. The only good thing is we run the stuffins out of 'em on the mile course but no touches on the ball. Still liking this years team but doesn't every coach at this time of the year.
Pregnancy update - Still no morning sickness for me. I had a headache the other day but think the weather had something to do with that. My right knee hurts a little but I have been running everyday so think that may have something to do with it. I hate to brag but this third pregnancy has not been to bad on me. A little sunburn sometimes but thats from being outside. I'm feeling good though - thanks for asking!

Pre-season

Here's the deal - 30 girls/4 coaches and 2 practices a day. That is pre-season and it lasts from the 10th till the 26th. We will have some days off and some scrimmages but for the most part two practices a day. Its hot in Texas by the way. Things are going well. I am pleasantly surprised by our freshmen and the one transfer. We do have to watch out for injuries - we play the #3 ranked team in the country for our first game - it would be nice to have everyone healthy. There are so many things to stress out as a coach (with my personality traits). I tend to see the negative in everything when it comes to my job. I worry way to much! Every good practice has to have flaws in it! I'll survive though its not life or death - right?
Kelly taped Oprah's after show on TIVO and it was when Barry Manilow was a guest. The audience requested songs and he sung them. I died!! I'lm sorry but people may think I'm being sarcastic - no way! I love Manilow - "he writes the songs that make the whole world sing!!"
Good grief - as part of my reaching out to teach America's youth program, I ask my girls questions about American and World history. It took a Freshman one whole minute to determine who won the Civil War. It was a verbal multiple choice. North or South - "Uhhhh the Nooorrrttthhhh?" She said sheeepishly. Apparently Bunker Hill was a famous battle in the Civil War, a Senior told me. Ohh yea and the Lee guy was a famous general of the war but not sure for which side! Bless their hearts. Oh Well, its only people that died to make this country what it is - who cares. Ughhhh

Lake Highlands

We're in! We won our game on Saturday and we are in the Lake Highlands girls classic league. Sure its Division 3 but hey its better than the other two league and four divisions we could be in. It was hotter than Angelina in a bikini but we scored three goals and allowed one and made it in!

I'm telling ya what, my peeps, I'm loving the left behind series of books. I have read the first six in July and am working on number seven Indwelling. I have read the first eight books three years ago but then got busy and didn't read the last four. My Obsessive disorder then kicked in and I can't read the last four til I reread the first eight. I'm telling you though I love them. I really think they are well written books and have a great message! I guess Alyssa could compare it to her reading Dr. Seuss.

Preseason starts tomorrow. I will busy checking the girls in and having team meetings then Wham Wed. 10th - Aug. 26th. we will practice two times a day almost every day. I will have two total breakdowns and three acid filled ulcers. Then the season will begins, my stomach hurts just thinking about it!

Pregnancy Update
So far not much morning sickness for me - I think this could be an easy pregnancy. I feel good, actually have lost some weight and working on my tan. I don't know why people think pregnancy is so hard?

Mr. Bright Side

We had the funeral for Vinny and his granddaughter last night. It was a different experience, obviously funeral's should be, no one should get used to them. I have never been to a catholic funeral and it lasted a while. Wow my ADHD was in high gear but at least we stood and sat and stood and sat every few minutes so it kept us on the move. It was a nice time to remember their lives and that's what counts.
The Lord is in high gear with the Trimble's lives! I have only one club team this year which makes our finances a lot tighter and as you know we have a child on the way. My first thought is what in the world are we thinking! Its awesome that the one year I get only one team is also the year we refinance our mortgage and save a lot a month and the year my youngest gets out of preschool (paid) and goes to kindergarten (free). Kelly will be able to work a little and the club will use me for skills sessions. I am a big time human - all I can see is the stuff I want to worry about and not the blessings or the way the Lord will provide. I guess its easier for me to worry and stress then look on the bright side (ugghhh just typing that makes me want to throw up). Is it possible that I need to work on not being sooo negative? No, not me (sarcasm)!
I have agreed today to watch my two and the two from across the street so my wife and our neighbors can go to Dallas to the new IKEA store. This is big time all day - 8am - 6pm - with four lives hanging in the balance of the wise and honorable Jeff Trimble. As I type I have no clue where the four are but am sure all is well. I'm actually surprised three adults have faith enough in me to allow to monitor four kids with the same maturity level as myself. Bless their hearts - their only human.

Sad

This weekend I was back down in Dallas for...you guesseed it... more qualifying games. We won one and lost one. So I went down last night for another game at 8pm - got home at 1am. We lost that one so we HAVE to win Saturday to make it into the league that we want to be in. Then I'm done with club tournaments until November. Then the really fun begins and my college girls report on the 9th. I love preseason! Well I lost the pink eye and now have a sore throat. Ridiculous! I couldn't say one word on Saturday during the games - not fun. I just sat there, killed me.
We had some terrible news Saturday one of our biggest supporters of the girls and guys soccer team passed away in a plane crash with his 10 yr. old granddaughter and her lil best friend. He was flying his plane when it crashed on takeoff, the little girls mom survived but Vinny and his granddaughter and her friend were killed immediately. We will go to the services tomorrow night. Please pray for the Lewis family because it is going to be rough with both caskets up there. I guess I'll stop there - it doesn't feel right to talk about much else. Sorry for the depressing blog but the family obviously is going through a rough time and needs our prayers. I'll blog tomorrow.

Is it the end for our Super hero?

Its not that I have an ego...well o.k. I may but I have always wanted to known as a super hero soooo here I am. No big time powers or stuff like that. I am going down hill fast. It could be age. It could be the fact that my schedule has slowed down so I have more time for my hypochondriacness to kick in. It could be I'm getting a tad under the weather. Maybe I'm in Love with my wife to such a degree its some strange way of trying to relate to the fact shes pregnant and sometimes under the weather. Anyway I'm headed downhill faster than Kirk's and Dail's fantasy football hopes. (I'm in both leagues so I'm taking cheap shots at both commish's) It started with the famous eye infection on the weekend. That has translated to a sore throat and headache all week. I think the eye medicine irritated my throat. Isn't it weird when I put the drops in the medicine would work its way down my throat ten minutes later. Regardless.... it did. When I swallow my coffee a second ago my ears and throat burned. Brillant! Who knows but the good thing is I'm losing weight like crazy. I' continuing to run and the fact that I hate food at this point and my new "no greasy food" philosophy has me weighing like a toy "dog" that Alyssa has just purchased. Ohh I will prevail my people..don't you wory. I will feel better in ten to fifteen years perhaps. I truly believe when I actually get out of the house and my schedule goes crazy (Aug. 9th - Nov. 15th) I won't have time to cry like the girl that my third child won't be...think positive Jeff...Boy, Boy, Boy! Life will be better for our super hero. I just hope the evil forces in the universe don't all rise up to destroy me before my health comes back.

Weekend

So I take my new team down to a warm up tournament in the Metro-plex this weekend. Basically this is a tournament to get the team ready for the next two weekends in which we play games to get in the "good " leagues in Dallas. Anyway its three weekends of soccer. I don't mind as much - get a per diem for food and hotel room free. Gotta love hotel rooms no cleaning up and I can get back after games and nap in 40 degree air without interruption. Well to be honest it gets old after a while - the older I get the harder it is with not being home. Well we won three and lost one so good weekend....except for a little friend called "pink eye" that moved into the right eye on Friday night and decided to blind me for most of Saturday. So fun times coaching in 100 degree temps with sweat running down my face and my right eye blinded and burning and itching! Ohh yea you guessed it Mr. left eye decided he was missing out and got a lil infection in him. Thank goodness we have a parent on my team that called in a prescription and the right one is still bothering me today but for the most part starting to clear up.
We did get TIVO this weekend though!! Ben and Alyssa convinced us with the demo at their house. Fun times watching NASCAR last night - how about Rusty finishing second!! Hold back ur excitment folks we still have a bunch more races!!

What you Doing?

We have been home for about twelve hours and I already miss that question. Corben (Ben and Alyssa's two year old boy) asked me that question for six days straight and I never got tired of it! What you doing?/what's Happening? Hearing him pronounce certain words was pure and simple comedy also. Of course he's probably blogging now about the strange guy who talked to him non stop! I would also like to give a shout out to Addison and Camryn (the Turner girls) for a wonderful time!! Addison actually broke the news that I was going to be a father of a third child to me. She came down stairs and says "Jeff, Kelly has a baby in her stomach". It was great - it didn't spoil it at all, on the contrary, it made the announcement a great story!! I haven't been around little girls a lot and having to sit and watch a tap dancing show or watch as they change into their princess outfits then to ballerina's in a total of three minutes is pretty amazing - especially when I was trying to watch NASCAR. I can't tell everyone how much fun we had in Hawaii and the scenery and events were only the half of it! I actually have to say a nice thing about Alyssa here, so bear with me!! Ben and Alyssa were awesome to hang out with. Alyssa said it best before we left. I think we all were a little like "this could be fun or it could be a little uncomfy" but it was awesome. Besides the fact that Ben and I got shutout when we went deep sea fishing and lost to two inferior opponents on Game night - cheaters! Their friendship and hospitality made the trip what it was - a trip to remember!!
No, my faithful readers, I did not go down into the cage to meet the sharks! It got cancelled because the ocean was to rough and all I needed was a big wave throwing a shark in the tank with me! I did boogie board and came back alive but it was a scary first half an hour!! We saw dolphins when we went deep sea fishing - I was convinced they were great whites until they jumped out of the water - tricky dolphins! By the way, Ben's restaurant that Alyssa makes him "slave away at" is pretty amazing. I know it gets old for him but its on the water and has great live music - I'm sure its not fun waiting on people all the time but its no McDonalds!
Anyways once again we had a blast and we can't thank the Turners enough. Addison - tell your mom you can have all the deserts at 9 a.m. you want. Camryn - thanks for the example of what I have to look forward to, if I have a young tap dancing/princess of a girl that's cool and cute!! Corben - What you doing right now??

Buckeye Time

We're in Ohio! We left Saturday about 3pm and got to The Buckeye State at 9:30 a.m. I decided to drive all the way until I got to the annoying last two hours and was about to go nuts driving , so I let my beautiful wife take over for the last 120 miles. She got pulled over and honked at (for trying to drive a family in a mini van off the road) in the first hour. We made it though and I went to sleep immediately after arriving. We will split time between Kel's family and mine (they live an hour apart). At my house I get the familiarity of home/Mom's cooking/hanging out with the family/eating lunch with Dad at Rob's buffet!! At Kelly's house I get the reading time/Mom -in- laws cooking/"leave Jeff alone" time. I truly love coming to Ohio.
We're still at Kel's house and leave tomorrow for Hawaii. Watched a special on the animal channel last night - sea snakes are the 5th most dangerous snake in the world and they live in the Pacific!! I'm not really big on airplanes so this will be a joy tomorrow!! Three takeoffs and three landings. I'm going to be a wreck before a shark gets the chance to attack!!
I went to the movies alone - I love that - going with people - always feel the need to talk. Saw Mr. and Mrs. Smith - great film, Pitt's laid back humor in the movie is outstanding!! Jolie - well shes just..shes just.. well wow. Anyway, fun film!!
I made cuts on my club teams before we left and have been on the computer or phone two to three times a day!! Oh well - "its called a job, jeff".
Well wish me luck on the plane - good grief my stomach is in knots already!!

Kirk - by the way I commented on your pedicure blog - ughhh
Alyssa - new blog? Good grief its July!!

Healthy Food High School

hello party people. First of all - sorry for no new blogs lately. I've been a tad busy and big time lazy - won't happen again. I feel as if I haven't visited the therapist in awhile!! Actually I'm not sure anyone reads this anymore - which would be good - then I really could confess stuff. HA !Things have been great, I really love the summer when I can get away from soccer. I'm becoming my Dad - he loves to work in the yard out in the heat. Suddenly I'm loving mowing, landscaping. Who knew.
Jeffy is on a diet! I'm tired of having a gut! Everyone says I don't need to diet but trust me I'm tired of the GUT. So working out everyday, situps til i can't situp anymore and watching what I eat. Get this - No more fried food!! Me, Jeffrey Scott Trimble - no more fried food. I'm crying while typing this! You know how hard it is to eat out and not have fried food? My only concession to this rule is tortilla chips but french fries I'll see ya later (really crying). I'm limiting myself to a baked potato once or twice a week. What do people eat with their chicken or steak if they don't have potatoes?? I'm trying though. Desserts are no big deal - don't like sweets. French Fries/Popcorn/onion rings/chicken (fried)/ Long John'f fish this stuff is who I am!! I don't even know myself anymore!! Grilled chicken/veggies/grilled fish/ diet coke/ salad are my new friends. I feel like I'm transfering schools and hanging out with the uncool crowd - but just like all the uncool kids in school, down the road they will be successful so I'm banking the new diet will help down the road. Grilled chicken actually is pretty cool, good jokes and easy to hang with but salad is a full out dork. This dude picks his nose and is not cool at all. I'm pretty sure that Long John's fried fish pointed and snickered at me in the hall today. This is going to be really hard. Also sure I will have to fight the onion ring on the playground just to save face.

Summer time

Its been a good week. I have came up to the office a couple times because I forgot I needed to turn like three things in last week. Typical Jeff Trimble stuff - I know about it but why turn it in early when I can take forever and rush at the last minute. I swear its a disease - and Jeff number 2 hates it. The whole split personality thing sorry! I have a on the ball getting it done type personality and also a I've got forever so I can always wait til later one. I always seem to think "I can do that tomorrow" then I will get so behind that it becomes a goal to get everything done - which I do - then the cycle starts all over! Anyway I'm all caught up finally and getting ready for another great week of soccer camp!! After that we have a week off then head home to the great state of Ohio and our vacation! Then back for the fall season. Fun times! The blogs of a out of season soccer coach cannot be any more boring - im telling ya. A lot of swimming and cooking out!! Kelly had her big company cookout yesterday and we all swam. I tried the jump off the bored and let ur butt hit the board flip off the diving board. I was 2 for 3 on that dive and the one mess up was enough to officially retire the dive. So then I ate more steak and sausage and gently dove off the board the rest of the time. It was a fun time though! My wife did about forty front and back flips off the board - show off.

Report for Jeffrey Alec and Evan Michael

Well Alec and Evan I am assuming that some day you may read these blogs of mine or maybe your mother will tell you about them. So let me tell you about the State of the Trimble Union.

We are right now (June 11th at 1:21pm cst.) living in our first house that we not renting but actually own. We have lived here for a couple years. I am 34 and your Mom is ummm..22.. (not really but I would get in trouble for saying her age) she's younger than me and thats what's important, I guess. We have a black lab named Dakota and Alec you and her get along really well. Evan I think you freak her out a little but that's mainly because of you trying to tackle her all the time. We live in Wichita Falls, Texas and I'm the girls soccer coach for Midwestern State University. This job will probably be a lot more interesting to you as you get about 7-10 yrs. older. Your Mom works part time for an energy efficiant company. She is there for you both everytime you need her and you both love her to death.
Evan you still suck your thumb which is cute but will have to come to an end soon. Alec you read books like crazy and love to play Star Wars, you bug me everyday to go and see Star Wars 3 Revenge of the Sith. You both play soccer, a sport I would prefer you neither play. Unfortunately you both seem to have a knack for it in your own ways. Evan you also play T-Ball and really have come to like it. Your Mom and I have tried not to push you into playing sports this early but you both have asked to play and we are more than happy to help you out. Your Mom likes to yell at the games and cheer a lot while I seem to like to watch nervously and try not to get to wrapped up in them. I can be a tad intense at sporting events. You probably (as your reading this) already have experienced this. You both swim like fish and go to the Burney's pool almost everyday. We also are able to go out to their Lake house and go out on their boat. You both are already starting to water ski. You have friends and play with Dillon and Erin (the boy and girl across the street) everyday! You all play Star Wars, Pokemon or whatever all the time.
We are on summer vacation right now but in the Fall Alec you will be a third grader - good grief boy - your growing up to quickly. Evan you get to try a lil thing called Kindergarten in the Fall. Your Mom is going to have a rough day dropping you off! We do have some news for you..we are thinking of trying to have a third. This will definately change all of our lives but I have all the confidence in the world you both will be awesome big brothers. Like your Father - you both have become very proficient at the video games and I am proud. You balance this well with being outside and reading so its not an obsession (as it was for me in College). SEE COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS TO SEE HOW THAT WORKED OUT. Well I love you both and thats what the Trimble's are all about right now. I will give you both updates later in the Fall about how things are going. Love ya both!!

Revenge of the ....movie stopping

Well camp is done and all the kids survived. One of my coaches had there baby on Wednesday night so I got the opportunity to work with youngsteres for two days and take his group. We also had a goal fall over and I about called Kelly and told her to be ready to write a bigggg check to a set of parents but nothing bad happened. We had a fun weekend. I was hoping Sunday to relax and watch a lil NASCAR with my Long John Silvers meal that I get ever Sunday after church. I can't change the routinue!! Then I get informed we have not one but two soccer kids parties to go to. Alec's at 2pm and Evan's at 6pm. Both Swimming outside which is awesome after a week of being out in the sun! Plus I got the opportunity to talk to parents about soccer and "how did your camp go". I finally make it back to the house at 8pm and get ready to go see Star Wars 3. Get to the theatre and sit down, relax, watch some great previews and the film starts...an hour later- film stops. I'm no Star Wars Geek (actually I am) but that wasn't the ending I expected... oh wait there's a 14 yr. old movie attendant yelling at us to get in the hall. We're under a severe Thunderstorm warning and there's tornado's spotted. I tried to let her know that I didn't care and to start the dang film back up but everyone was already leaving. So I got my money back and drove home in 65 mile an hour winds to watch the Home and Garden Channel.

Oh I know I complain a lot about my schedule but you people haven't seen anything!!

Heres my check list for the week!

1. Watch NBA game 7 Eastern Conference Finals
2. Sleep In
3. Go to Rob's and Watch NBA game 7...oh I already said that
4. I think my son has a T ball game
5. Probably have to cook out and drink a beer
6. Go to bed late and.. oh see number 2

This is nuts, its no wonder coaches have heart attacks!! My head hurts from thinking about this week of torment.

Crap forgot about 7. watch the complete 4th season of Soprano's (for the 3rd time) because.....SEASON FIVE IS COMING OUT TOMORROW!!!! Its like Christmas and Mardi Gras without presents and well I've never been to Mardi Gras but I've heard things get a lil wacky over there. The times are a tad exciting at the Trimble household - now hopefully my wife won't read this and my schedule won't be interrupted by tedious things like "time with family" and "working around the house."

Rain?

So I go to Dallas again this weekend for our last tournament!! We are supposed to play on Saturday at 10a.m. and 2. We get the first game in and BAM rain.. the tourney doesn't get cancelled - oh no that would be to convenient - it gets suspended for twenty hours!! I have to spend all day Saturday in a hotel room watching T.V. which doesnt sound horrible but... there's forty different things going on at home I could be doing! We ended up playing the number 3 ranked team in the country for this age group on Sunday at 2pm and we tied!!! Well I put everyone of my players on defense and held on but..we tied!! The guys loved it! So Sunday morning it resumes and we play two games and of course my team picks the one weekend I want to be back in Wichita Falls to play their best so we win two games and tie one (see the above sentences) qualify for the quarter finals that night at....9pm! Who plays soccer at 9pm? well the rain messed everything up and we did! First ten minutes of the game one of my players gets a red card (automatic ejection) he talked back to the ref. in a negative manner. So we play 75% of the game a man short. Yea we lost 1-0. So I roll into W.F. at 1:15a.m. for 5 hours of sleep before opening day of our soccer camp. The only thing that will ruin a soccer camp is thunderstorms and there's a chance of them everyday this week. Are you kidding me - we're in Texas! So hereI sit typing with my eye on the accuweather website to see which storm is getting near. I am blessed to have a great camp staff and the Lord gave us great numbers this year to make our camp a success. My wife is about to kill herself answering the phone and listening to problems. Kel and I know we're lucky/blessed to have this so please don't think all I do is complain..which is close to being the truth. We are blessed and appreciate it!

Romance+Comedy=brilliance

Well once again blockbuster DVD through the mail service was a success. I found a romantic comedy that I enjoyed. I have to admit that I really like a good romantic comedy. The good ones are awesome - the bad...Well are just chick flicks. Well the movie I watched was The President's Daughter and I liked it/not loved it but liked it. It was somewhat uneven, kinda "where are they going with this" type at the beginning but really got its legs and had a great middle to end. Loved Katie Holmes and Michael Keaton plays a great Dad/President. I won't go into to it to much - wife hasn't seen it. Oh yea - I'm man enough to admit that I watched it without the wife. Back to the movie - it was good and not some cheesy live happily ever after ending a good solid realistic ending!!
How about that extreme makeover: Home Edition on Sunday night. Good Grief people, it about kills me. Did ya see last week. The police officer who's wife got Leukemia and died at like 27. Leaving him three boys all under the age of four. Ouch it was happy/sad/depressing/joyous. It wore me out. They made them a great house and the community raised $150,000. for the family. It was greatttt. I bet Burgess even got emotional if he watched it. Well that would require him to stay up past 8pm. It would be a close call.

Best and Worst Romantic Comedies

Best
1 Notting Hill - all time greatest "just a girl looking for a boy to love her"
2. When Harry Met Sally - Love the quirks of both characters
3. The Notebook - straight rip out your heart love story
4. My best friends Wedding - gotta love the plotting of Julia Roberts
5. Pretty Woman - gotta love Julia Roberts
6. Four Weddings and a Funeral - British humor is the best but the language (40,000 F words) got it a lil lower ranking
7. Sleepless in Seattle- Tom Hanks is flat out the best actor to play everyman

Worst
1. You've Got Mail - disappointing - expectations way to high!
2. Addicted to Love - Ryan/Broderick ughhh
3. America's Sweetheart - Cusak/Julia Roberts - missed on the comedy

bonus?

Well my wife is gone shopping today so I must remember in two hours to pick up my kids. Good grief no one wants the school calling trying to find out why my boys are still up there. I'm thinking tonight I have to feed and quite possibly bath the boys andddd put them to bed. My goodness I can't just sit and watch basketball and have the night time fairie get those things done. It will be a challenge but I think that I can accomplish these things and keep my mental health about me. Maybe I should clean the house for some bonus points. That sounds like work and knowing my wife theres probably nothin dirty in the dang house. HMMMMM what can I do that gets bonus points from the wife but requires no work?

Sinus Headache?

I'm sitting here smiling because I'm pretty sure that my comment on Alyssa's blog will have her a lil angry. I was just simply trying to reach out and relate to a friend when she doesn't feel well. Comparing a "nasty lil sinus headache" to nausea from pregnancy I'm sure will endure me to all the female/mother types out there.
Good grief did I really have to take the Coed tournament that seriously? I played in goal for most of both games. I had the joy of a 50 yr. old man scoring a penalty kick on me but after that no goals were scored. I did run around a lil so I guess I got my exercise also. For some reason I decided to dive about five times so my lower back is now permantely displaced but really have kept my mouth shut with my wife's hyper extended knee. That was scary looking though!
How about Survivor! Spoiler Alert for those who have not watched the finale. You gotta love the fact that Tom won. He definately deserved it and Katie was killing me. My goodness she drove me insane - how in the world did she think she could actually win?? Oh well it was awesome to have Tom win - I did think the interview show afterwards was boringggggg. Anyways it was fun to watch the show - we had our neighbors over for the finale and had a good time. No knee injury's or no one throwing up from pregnancy so I think we're headed in the right direction!

Time to Relax

I'm in the home stretch to a weekend off!! Fun times everyone fun times. No trips to Dallas this weekend! We do have a few games with our co-ed team but after that nothin! They want me to play in goal for the games - something I swore I would never do after playing for 10 yrs. of my life. I will do it for the team I will not play very well I'm a lil older than I was in College and I'm NOT diving for the ball, but I will try. I don't think we have anything planned outside of that. Well our storage door had fallen off/ the push mower's cord snapped when I pulled it the other day/ and our yard looks like a natural grassland but other than that it should be a work free weekend.
Kelly and I have started to plan our vacation in Hawaii. The options seem to center around the water a lot - who would figure on a tropical island there would be so many water options. I'm going to be serious for a second - I am actually considering getting in the water - inside a cage - and going to look for sharks. This place puts us in a cage at the surface and we can swim to the bottom of the cage and see the sharks swim around us. That would be the ultimate adrenaline rush. Probably to much for me though. I get chills just thinking about it. Something about confronting your fears is cool. I don't know though - it might be to much for my lil heart. I know I'm coming back with an athentic hawaiin shirt - after that its pretty open. Like any good hubby I'll let my wife spend the money as long as I have a few drinks on the beach and she lets have some food I'll be happy. I'm sure she will spend enough money for the both of us. I do want to go see the Arizon monument - I could probably spend a day there.
Oh well I'm ready for the weekend - I act like its a big deal - we are in the last week here and ever student has left for the summer. My weekend has already begun. Oh Yeah I'm also on a 10 month contract so I guess I'm really close to having a lil time off. So maybe its nt the worst job to have right now!

White shirt, anyone?

Well just got back from taking A to Target to get Pokemon cards because he had to put up with getting blood drawn from his arm this morning. Fun times. I hate getting blood drawn so I bet it was no fun for him. Kelly has blogged about the needle that he accidentally pricked himself with.
Its always fun being in Dallas and having your wife tell you about it over the phone then getting off the phone and going to my next game with my team and having 1,000 thoughts running through my mind. We got crushed in that game , by the way, had nothing to do with me being distracted and everything to do with my team getting their @@@ kicked. So then we start to head home and stop at steak and shake for a quick bite. Well the waitress accidentally spills red fruit punch all over the back of my white shirt and down my shorts. I just sat there, my boys (some of my '90 boys were there) started laughing because I didn't even flinch - the day could not get much worse so why should I even move/complain. The poor waitress wanted to give me a free meal/or shake but I wasn't even eating. I was going to eat when I got home. I simply told her no thank you and went outside to see if any cars were zooming thru the parking lot to possibly run over my foot or anything remotely close to getting the day worse. I got home safely after that and had a great evening but what a day!
We did have a great Mother's Day. We went to Samuari for lunch (Japanese food) my wife loves the place then home to watch basketball while my wife spent the day "running around town". I watched the movie Closer - holy cow that movie was a lil intense. Not very good and a lot of bad/ dirty language. I mean A LOT! Decent story and Natalie Portman did a good job in it. I think Julia Roberts "mailed it in " with her part. I'm no critic of movies though. Just a simple man who loves red punch splashed oh so gently on the back of my white shirts!

My boys

Here ya go Alec and Evan:

Don't spread gossip: Whatever it is, it always comes back around to bite ya
Don't forget "yes maam/yes sir"
Don't tell the ending to movies
Don't root against the cowboys til you move out/ or you'll move out a lil quicker than expected
Don't raise your voice to your Mom
Don't forget about books - reading opens your mind
Don't assume jumping from a certain distance will be o.k.
Don't assume
Don't lie - odds are you will get caught
Don't go against the odds
Don't write a note to a girl and give it to her without sleeping on it (the thought not the note)
Don't ever tell two seperate girls at the same time you "like" them
Don't be afraid to call us if your ever out and uncomfortable
Don't pull your socks up until its back in fashion
Don't stop telling your family you love them - its never not cool
Don't promise to much - know what you can do
Don't forget to learn from experience's, good or bad
Don't assume the VCR is taping until you check
Don't assume
Don't stay inside the house all day: rain or shine
Don't be afraid to laugh or cry

Don't grow up

I love you

Jeff is awesome Gordon

I have got a new theory. The more I talk about my "dislike" for Jeff Gordon the more races that he seems to win. Rusty Wallace has wrecked in the last three races and the pretty boy Gordon has won two of three. So I am now officially congratulating Jeff Gordon on his success. You make me proud to share your name Mr. Gordon. Everytime you yell woahhh like a girl I think "theres a man who is comfy in his manhood." You are truly an inspiration to all clean cut yuppies who aspire to race amoungst the red necks. Rock on 24! Hopefully that does something to my curse. Probably not though.
Had great weekend my close friend and his wife had their baby! Cayden Glen (family name) Woodard is here! He is a healthy baby and now eating and sleeping without difficulty. I was very happy for Rob and Stacy. They are so excited. Friday I was at the hospital the whole day hanging out with Rob. Saturday was a laid back day I actually took a nap. We had a few soccer games and went out to the lake (Burney's) and had a great supper. Then played washers. Sunday we had a soccer game and got home to watch NASCAR - we all know how that went - no offense Mr. Gordon. So I sit here waiting for the next adventure to unfold in the life and times of Jeff Gordon's biggest supporter.

Sound of My Fair King and I!

Well the week has gone well. I have nothing tonight but my son's t ball practice and other son's soccer scrimmage. I love it. No club practice or anything to do at school - I can actually be a Dad all night without worrying about others kids.
Just ate lunch with my hot wife and now have the busy afternoon schedule of an off season soccer coach. Staring at the computer/falling in and out of a nap/ reading a little/ I'm telling ya, its a hard knock life! Don't ya just love Annie. Lil girl can sing!
I'm telling ya theres nothing better than a well done musical - not one on the dang silver screen either. One that is done by actors on stage right smack in front of you. Our High School had an awesome theatre arts department and they would get the scenes and props professionally done - it was great stuff. I can only imagine one on Broadway. Gotta love Fiddler/King and I/My Fair Lady. Now lets not get carried away I would much rather see a hockey game/fight any day of the week but a well done musical is a nice change of pace! Can you tell the NHL is on strike - I just talked about musicals for a paragraph - I'm losing my mind!

Favorite Musical : Fiddler on the Roof

Do we always have to give a title?

How is everyone out there?? I had a great weekend and once again it revolved around soccer, getting sick, getting pulled over and watching the draft! We had three soccer games this weekend. My 90 boys won both their games to go 5-1-1 on the season. All we have is two tournaments left and then we are done. The girls (87's) lost two games: one we only had 10 players and the other we forfeited. Dedicated girls! They have one game left and then we are done.
I get back Sunday afternoon and played a coed soccer game (my wife scored) and it started raining. So we continued to play because this thing is a game like the national championship and there is no way we should stop it. I mean countries are depending on the game being completed! I may be a little bitter about the rain game I have to admit. After the game I feel like death warmed over. So I did the only smart thing I have done in a while and go to bed at 9pm...I felt like a champ the next morning!
So I jump out of bed feeling good and hop in my truck to head for the work place. Enter the motorcycle cop...time for Jeffy to get pulled over and find out he left his wallet at home, along with my updated insurance information, and oh yea... inspection sticker out of date because front tire almost completely bald. So if your keeping count thats a total possible ticket count of 4. I have to admit the cop thought it was funny(how busted I actually was) and gave me two tickets both of which can be dismissed when I get them updated.
How about them cowboys in the draft. I would love to give a shout out to the 'boys. We are going to have one tight defense next year all my peeps! We drafted two top level defensive linemen (One pass rusher and one guy who can play down on the line or play linebacker). We got them both in the first round and the experts are giving us an A+ for the draft. I can hear the excitment from ya'll! Well have a good week I would apoligize about not updating til today but Kirk's blog is still talking about the weekend of the 10th.

Movie Time

We watched Briget Jones: Edge of insanity or something like that last night. If Colin whats his face could be a more boring character in this movie I would be shocked. I like the actors in movies to look like a normal human and be not to pretty but good gosh poor Renee' looked a lil to much like us everyday people. Who ever decided showing less of Hugh Grant would be a good move for this film deserved the 5,000 dollars this film made. Other than those few points it was a breath of fresh air cinematically. I did however see Ray the other day and it was wonderful!! Jamie Foxx was awesome - any time you can watch a film and forget who the actor is and buy 100% into whom their playing- you got a winner!! I really enjoyed the story also. This Blockbuster.com thing is about the best. I am watching the mail box for....Metallica :Some kind of Monster. It starts out as a behind the scenes Documentary on the group but actually catches the band right as James Hetfield(lead singer) leaves because of numerous problems!! You have to watch the movie to find out how it turns out but I cannot wait - my lil metal heads! I have had the joy of seeing Metallica in concert so this film will be fun for me. I would like to appeal to all the reraders of this blog to give me a lil feedback on some current movies they really liked - my que for my blockbuster account is getting low!! Let me know boys and girls what dvd/films you have enjoyed recently.

Boredom

I'm telling you - another weekend and the same schedule. Soccer games all day Saturday and Sunday. Kelly was gone at the women's retreat and my parents were in town but I was in Dallas. It was a good time with my parents. They came in on Wednesday and got to see the boys play their soccer games and spend some time with all of us. Its well documented how I handle change but it was a good visit for me also. I have two more weekends of travel and then a break from the drive to dallas!! love it! I'm telling you nothing has really happened this weekend but those dang games. We won all four - 2 for my u-15 boys and 2 for my u-19 girls! So that was good but like I said got back late both nights. With the gas prices being so high it makes it wonderful to drive two hours one way to Dallas. I'm sure everyone else had a great weekend and I will blog about something exciting I'm sure tomorrow!

A year of honesty

I have been blessed with a burning stomach since my days in the old junior high! I think I am finally figuring out what it is!! I'm to nice! I know what everyone is thinking - how can a person who shuns all the people he comes in contact with be nice. Don't you have to communicate to show niceness? here's my theory - I know myself and I usually have a tough time saying no. I figure if I can keep from communicating to others - then they can't possibly ask for something or suggest something and therefore I can avoid a confrontation or request. Sometimes effective and passive aggressive move on my part. I don't seem to have this problem with my team (MSU) but I could with the parents of all the players I coach. This is one of the reasons I'm not a big communicator to parents on my teams. Running to the car after the games would be a good illustration (kidding)! Well I got nabbed the other day at practice. I had a player bring a note to me from their parent (this is not my college team I'm talking about - it is one of my club teams) the note said "food for thought" and had a lineup written on it. The same lineup we use, it was just that their lil player was in a different spot. Oh the joy! I know this parent will never ask if I received the note so I really won't have a chance to communicate my joy at having help in coaching. I was somewhat taken back by this because after being here for so long the parents usually don't mess with me butttttt apparently we have a brave soul who thinks they can help out.
Here's another great thing about me: someone can ask me to do something and as long as its a ways off I probably will say yes. I hate to say no to people and always figure I can make up an excuse later. Ohhh I know! I know that its"good to be a servant and help others, to have a good attitude, just don't over extend yourself". I have heard all these nuggets of advice before but it would be fun to just say NO. Or even tell someone what you are thinking about their suggestion. Whatever happened to honesty?I actually am fascinated by people that just tell it how it is - you may not like Simon (American Idol) but he is right a lot of the times. His comments are rude but they are often very true. I am a Jedi master of sarcasm but it would be fun to be very honest for about a year then see how people treat me. I would accomplish one goal - probably not many acquaintance's and the same amount of friends. Of course when you are like me and working from a number of about 5 friends its not hard to maintain.

Later (honestly)
