Remember

As I get closer to my third boy's birth, I start to remember what my past was like. Not my boy's past but when I grew up! I have to tell you it was awesome!! I was a big brother, I kept my sis from getting in more trouble than she already had (which was a lot). I laid in the hallway while my mom watched Dallas on a Friday night. I fought my nap at 3pm in the afternoon cause I knew I didn't need it. I hated a drive on Saturday morning because I was going to miss cartoons. I was scared of fireworks on the forth of July. I was mad at Dad for calling me out at first (when he volunteered to be the umpire). My Dad took me for a banana split after I scored my first touchdown. My Mom and I talked twenty times on the way home from church (after her choir practice) about girls and life. I love the fact that I have these memories and I could go on and on. I really want everyone to know that my parents are the best!! I mean that they were so cool. I have a cool sis who got in sooo much trouble growing up that I dodged all of it. Now I'm the black sheep but she deserves the break. My Dad and Mom have no clue how great they were. Mom was my rock in the beginning and Dad helped me out until now ---- they think thats the what I think - - -but they are BOTH very important all the time. I want to tell you both I love you and I'm ready to be a great Father for Owen because of you!!Later

Back

Im back from Boston, Mass. my lil friends. Wow is it a wee bit cold up there. I went up with 5 students and another advisor to the great North for a NACA convention. Basically we watched comedians, musicians, speakers and so on and so forth. We then decide who we like and try to book them for entertainment for our students next school year. So its really kinda fun, the airport and crowds not as fun. Of course being around a lot of people for five days is not the best but it was Boston. We went and walked through Harvard, toured Fenway Park (Mecca), and went to the original Cheers. Visiting Fenway was the best - I love the Bosox and have since Clemens was a rookie. So it was great to finally see the most famous ball park in the world. Some will say Wrigiley but please ivy can never replace the Green Monster!!! The girl giving us the tour had a reallly thick and wicked Bostonnnn accent so it was really cool to hear her explain. If I had a way to put pics on this I would show you but I'm an idiot.
My wife is getting very close to having this third boy of ours - wow. I'm getting a tad bit nervous, forget the fact that I'm psychotic when it comes to change, I just am excited and nervous that it all goes well. Its amazing how when life is consistent that it is very easy to trust God because we are having a good time of life. We are challenged to trust God when there is uncertainty or worries and it becomes our priority to find a way to get back to walking and talking with him. I guess thats part of our challenge as Christians.

Survivng Valentine's Day

Heres my well documented challenge - my wife isnt really that big on V-day. I tend to be supportive of any day designed to get me a gift. So we are coming to yesterday with two seperate agendas. I'm not all about me receiving gifts I really like to give them but that leads to my first statement "my wife doesn't want to receive them". So this always is problematic as we leave Christmas and head towards V-day. Last year I got ahead of the game and gave her a present on the day or two ahead of V-day and it was cute and things were good. This year I woke up on the 14th without a clue of what to do. Kel had to sub and the boys were in school. Well Its been well documented that my wife is a borderline clean freak and this kitchen floor has been killing her with its potential to be a lot cleaner. So I come back from dropping the kids off and see the Magic Eraser box that helps get the dirt out on ceramic floors. Well a light bulb turns on and I decide to go buy 8 boxes and clean her floor. Well to make a long story short my two hour estimated project turns into three and the bleach from these things is still burning my hands but the floor is clean. Kelly was very happy and I dodged another V-day without disapointing my wife. I also received a cool gift - A webkinz lion named Cherokee. Basically this is a beanie baby with a code that allows me to go to a website and adopt this lil guy then I take care of it. Kelly has bought these for the boys in the past and she got me one. I get to design its room and feed it etc. etc. My girls at MSU are making fun of me but its something my boys and I can do and they have a blast showing how I can care for this thing and buy stuff for it. If I forget to feed or play with it then it will become unhappy and unhealthy. It can be a stressful deal - the boys may have a problem if I killed my pet lion.

Super? Bowl

I watched the Super Bowl on Sunday night because I love football. The commercials are great sometimes the halftime show is good buttt I love the game. Well this year the game was sloppy, officiating bad, half time show awful and commercials sub par. Here's my ratings out of four stars.

Commercials - Loved the Budweiser ones - especially the lil clydsdale one. I had a big problem with the godzilla robot one. That's just a dumb concept and weird. The monkey ones for career builder.com was good - loved the monkey burning cash. I also liked the fedex one with the caveman getting stomped. Still a lot of commercials and only liked about four. Two Stars

Game - A couple fun (big) plays by Pittsburgh and a rather good game moving the ball by Seattle. If Jeremy Stevens, for Seattle, could catch a ball it would have been much much better. One memorable play that will go down in the history of the Super Bowl and a turnover that almost changed the game made this a decent game. Two Stars

Officiating - Whatever momentum was given to the enjoyment of the game (by the big plays) the officiating took away. It truly wasn't just that there was some missed calls. The missed calls killed some big plays by Seattle. In fact they only affected Seattle's big plays. The holding call was flat out ridiculous as was the personal foul blocking penalty on Hasselbeck. The offensive pass interference call was bad but not terrible. The touchdown call on Big Ben was terrible from the linemen's standpoint. There is no way he saw that play completely and should have initially called it a touchdown!! One star

Halftime - Are you kidding me?? Are you kidding me? Rolling Stones live sounds great but they looked old - because they are - and the sound was terrible. Mick tried to sell it and for that - One Star

I have been watching Into the West the mini series that was produced by Dreamworks and Steven Spielberg. Its flat out awesome!! Each disc is four hours and there's four discs. I'm only half way through disc two. I love westerns and the whole Indian/Settler story line. Acting great and story great, scenery awesome!!

I was watching my Into the West last night and looked over and Evan was eating his snack. Kelly was gone and Alec was in the shower. It was great he was just sitting there looking at the cereal box like he was reading it and eating. I think that's one of the things that is so hard to explain to someone who doesn't understand what this parent thing is all about. Every once in a while I just love watching the boys and wonder what's going through there minds. I could care less about what goes through anyone else's mind but its great to watch my kids. The love for the boys is beyond belief and its so hard to explain. You have to wonder what God thinks as he watches us. O.K. getting a little to deep but at least I was able to blog about something other than just the "Super Bowl".

howdy

The 6 am torture sessions are still going on. The fact that I get up is the torture, the actual lifting and running is not bad. I'm telling you I got to a very uncomfy feeling with the gut that I was carrying around. I know its not always about the numbers on the scale. I actually will probably have bigger numbers on the scale or stay the same. Obviously the muscle I put on will conteract the fat I take off. I just have one goal lose the gut!!! Dropping deep fried food is my second decision for torture. Thats very painful.
Its been a very uneventful couple of weeks. I'm not a update you about my day type of blogger. I stand here and apoligize. I need to find the fun and eventfulness of each day and blog about it!
I'm listening to Bowling for Soup - the Ohio song - I love this group. There actually from Wichita Falls and now live in Denton. They always have hilarious and fun songs!!
The semester is off and running - one arrest, one suspected weed smoker, and a couple recovering knee injuries. This is going to be a fun type of semester. We did sign a bunch of new girls for next year and added some needed speed and hopefully goal scoring ability. Well rock on my peeps and keep shooting for the stars!
