Soccer Fun

We had a soccer tournament this weekend with my 14 yr. old girls team. These girls qualified for one of the highest leagues in Texas this summer. We had a great weekend of qualifying in August probably playing out of our minds. Well it came back to kick us hard! We lost every game this Fall in this league. I as only at 75% of the games because of MSU which only added to our distress. So before we start the Spring portion of our league we went to a tournament. My sister is here so my wife went with us. We ended up playing three games the first day (Sat.) Noon, 5pm, 9:30pm. We won two and tied one, so we had the chance to play in the Semi-final game the next morning at 9:00a.m. We won that game so we were in the finals against a team we had beaten 4-0 the day before. We could not score, my friends, and they scored - so in the spirit of sports we lost 1-0. This result really hurt but we had a very productive weekend and the girls had a lot of fun (Jeff included).
Well tomorrow I get the opportunity to speak in front of our youth group. I really am excited but am worried about the ole freeze up. I love teaching my Soph. boys because there is interaction but the Wed. night gig is just a speaker and the group listening. Troublesome! I know I will do fine and its not going to be too bad but I want to do great not good. I'll just go prepared and Pray, please pray for me!

Weekend update

I survived the weekend without Kelly. The baby is feeling better so all is well at the Trimble household. My sister arrived this week and that's a lot of fun. She gets to relax, read and enjoy some time to decompress from her job. We are still taking Owen to preschool three times a week (keeping him on his schedule) so that gives her some relaxation time. She gets to see plenty of the boys because they love their aunt and are constantly around her in the house.
We have a soccer tourney this weekend with my under 14 girls so that should be fun. Kelly is coming with and that should make the trip a rewarding and awesome experience (I think she still reads my blog). Kel hardly ever sees my club teams play and I really like her to be there at times to wrap her mind around why I'm gone on weekends so much in season.
Yesterday we were forecast for sleet and freezing rain. Panic struck the W.F. So I spent most of last night getting the rest of my firewood cut and stacked in anticipation of the disaster about to strike. Well the suns out today so all for not. It really wasn't that bad (doing all the work) I like being outside and I really have a sense of accomplishment getting all the work done. I am sure because I am outside 90% of my life cabin fever hits me a lot quicker than your average 37 year old male with good looks and a charming personality (I think Kel still reads my blog).

Momma cats away ...the four boy mice will play (day one)

Well we got rid of...I mean Our beloved mom/wife left for Philly this morning.
First mishap occurred in the first half an hour! She calls halfway from the airport and tells me I left my wallet in the truck that shes driving. Soooo no debit card or cash and ohhh yeaaa when you write a check you might need your I.D. Are you kidding me??? I call my friend Dail and before the banks can close for three days (MLK day on Monday) he ran to his bank with a check I write to get me some cash. First bullet dodged.
Second event of the day is Evan's basketball game with my youngest and I attending. Owen has a temp. and is not in a good mood so we make it for 15 minutes before having to ask another father to bring Ev. home because I have to take lil boy home - crying the entire way. When I arrived back at the palace my oldest prince has played his Godzilla Wii game a cool two hours (they have a timer that you can check to keep track of your child's playing time) the problem is, its noon! So I pry his hands off the controller.
Third event just happened as I was typing, a phone call, asking if Evan was going to a friends b-day party in 10 minutes. Luckily a mom will be able to take him while my 101 temp. boy takes a nap.

Update 1:05pm:Well the lil one decided to forgo the nap. Owen is sick but I guess not sick enough to nap! I find out (at 1pm) that the two high school girls soccer teams (rivals) are playing in a championship game in the in-town tourney at 2pm. Sooo I find a babysitter only to go out and watch my best friend lose 4-1 to his rival. The Rider team is just awesome (no. 1 in state) and Rob's team is good but not good enough today. I come back to the house at 3:30pm to a lil boy following me around for an hour crying. I'm right now typing over the noise.

Update 9:06pm:I sit here at 9:05pm a broken man. Mr. Evan is spending the night with a friend, I crawled to 7:30pm til I got Owen to bed and Alec decided to get a 1960's version of Godzilla to watch tonight.
I'm sure Kelly is having fun - if anyone sees her, tell her we miss her!

Cowboys

Here we are again on the day after a dissapointing loss! The Cowboys are the first team in 28 years to be a number one seeded NFC team and not win the divisional playoff game.
Here is why,

1. Too many penaltys
2. No running game in the second half.
3. Patrick Crayton's inability to catch a pass that would have gone for huge yards.
4. N.Y.'s drive at the end of the first half - the whole field in 48 seconds.
5. Good defense when a great defense was required!
6. Romo's inability to throw the ball away when outside the pocket.
I'll be honest it really is depressing to lose this way and at home of all things.

I did have a good night though. I love the show Amazing Race and last night was a fun episode. I also taped the new mini series Comanche Moon on CBS. This was a book written by Larry McMurtry about the lives of Woodrow Call and Gus McCray (Lonesome Dove). It leads up to where Lonesome Dove started. I really think the actors do a great job of mimicking what Tommy Lee Jones and Robert Duvall established for these characters. They had their voices down and did a great job with the non verbal acting. I have read the book and it really is going to be a great story watch. I really enjoyed the first of three parts.

OSU

Wow another blog close to the one I just did. Is it me or does any one else forget their dang sign in - I guess I'm just a moron!

Ohio State lost again in the national champ. game! Two schools of thought that are driving me insane and that I have already heard today.

First- "well at least they got there". I understand they got there but they are the biggest University in America they need to get "there." They pour millions into their facilities and recruiting budgets to be in this game. How hard is it to stop an average - yes I said average - LSU offense. Apparentley veryyy. We made Flynn look like freakin Tom Brady!

Second - "OSU is the new Buffalo Bills". Hey- insert bad thought of bad word - we won in 2002. We have won a ton of games in the last 7 yrs, and oh by the way our roster is almost all underclassmen. This was not supposed to be our year.

As you can see this stupid game is taking a toll on me. Alec - who talked to much trash at school - is now going to get a lil trash talk today from his classmates. Most of whom are UT fans. They finished 10th by the way. I was going to eat with him today but he is going to see a movie at lunch with his class, so hes on his own. Plus it would do me no good to punch out a smart mouthed 11yr. old at my son's school.

2008

Do any of you make New Years resolutions? I've never been really big on them. Probably because its hard for me to think about what I want to do tomorrow much less keeping something for a whole year. Well here goes for 2008! Now to think of things I want to do this year.

1. Be more of a teacher in practice this Spring.
2. Read 15 books - this is a yearly goal that I fall short of every year.
3. Have the Buckeyes, Cowboys and Red Sox win championships!
4. Get my backyard straightened out.
5. MSU to win 15 games in the Fall, a conference title and go to the NCAA's.
6. Keep getting more involved in our youth group.
7. Conquer a third world country - making sure your awake.
