Here's the deal - 30 girls/4 coaches and 2 practices a day. That is pre-season and it lasts from the 10th till the 26th. We will have some days off and some scrimmages but for the most part two practices a day. Its hot in Texas by the way. Things are going well. I am pleasantly surprised by our freshmen and the one transfer. We do have to watch out for injuries - we play the #3 ranked team in the country for our first game - it would be nice to have everyone healthy. There are so many things to stress out as a coach (with my personality traits). I tend to see the negative in everything when it comes to my job. I worry way to much! Every good practice has to have flaws in it! I'll survive though its not life or death - right?
Kelly taped Oprah's after show on TIVO and it was when Barry Manilow was a guest. The audience requested songs and he sung them. I died!! I'lm sorry but people may think I'm being sarcastic - no way! I love Manilow - "he writes the songs that make the whole world sing!!"
Good grief - as part of my reaching out to teach America's youth program, I ask my girls questions about American and World history. It took a Freshman one whole minute to determine who won the Civil War. It was a verbal multiple choice. North or South - "Uhhhh the Nooorrrttthhhh?" She said sheeepishly. Apparently Bunker Hill was a famous battle in the Civil War, a Senior told me. Ohh yea and the Lee guy was a famous general of the war but not sure for which side! Bless their hearts. Oh Well, its only people that died to make this country what it is - who cares. Ughhhh

well Jeff those are really hard questions. I would have to side with the girls...I am clueless when it comes to that stuff. I am smart in other ways though. Like I could just look at a certain body type and tell you exactly what kind of jeans would look best on them. Talanet...I think so!
Jeff,
After much reading of your blog (believe it or not, I check it every day), I have decided to start my own. You may view it at http://thoughtsfrom5th.blogspot.com/
Cheers,
Josh
I'm glad you love your job so much honey - and who knows - maybe you can beat UNO (the number 3rd ranked team in the nation). I think whoever made the decision to play that team first game out is brilliant! Oh, that would be you!
Unfortunately, histiey was\is sadly negleted in school. I learned enough to pass the tests. Karissa has already learned more in one year of schoolthan I learned in 10. Maybe there is hope yet for our kids to learn history.
You're right, Jenn, histiey IS negleted in school! HA! Just kidding! Jeff, I think it is hilarious you love Manilow so much. And as for the Civil War...I hope the south wins!
somehow it doesnt surprise me that Alyssa would get the best jeans to fit some of my girls! Josh I can't wait to read your blog! Kirk - one phrase - "He writes the songs that make the whole world sing". Kelly - very funny about the schedule maker. Jennifer - Again its just some people doing things in the past to change how we live - no biggie!
Amen to the el president comment on my blog. I know it is early but I was very pleased with the ladies this year. They seem to have a good work ethic. Sorry their I go being positive again.
