From 3rd to 21st!

Ahh the joy of NASCAR. O.k. wait I know some people don't understand/like the beauty that is stock car racing. I tend to find the sport very entertaining and vital to the core that is this great nation. Well Sunday at Bristol Motor Speedway we had a short track race, my friends. The track is obviously tighter and the speeds aren't as quick. Why is this significant - you cool guy - you might ask. The drivers bump the every living fenders off the other cars!! Its awesome the cars at the end of the race look like demolition derby cars. The best part of Sunday was lil Jeffy Gordan was cruising along in third on the final lap and got "bumped" from behind, spun out, and finished 21st!! So the guy that bumped him decides to go over after the race and apoligize. Well Gordan gets out of his car (leaving his helmet on) and shoves Kenseth. Apparently protecting his Hollywood looks and his precious voice box. Its not racing til you hear Gordan after a win hollar woooohh like a 14 year old school girl. Ahhh the joy of NASCAR!

Its about her, not me

I'm telling ya what, I'm about tired of all this attention. I'm feeling fine people - in fact I'm doing really well. Everyone is so concerned about how I feel and not how my wife feels. Shes the one that had the child. I know, I know I'm the one that suffers through the occassional waking up as shes getting up to feed. I also suffer from the changing of the one diaper a day that I do. I'm really o.k. though, I think I am starting to get a handle on this crazy time.
Obviously I'm kidding, Kelly is doing awesome! Its amazing to me how she cares for Owen. I love the boy to death but hes really not doing much. It sounds bad but its hard to bond with him when hes sleeping and eating all the time. Not my wife though, she just watches him sleep, holds him and you can see the love in her eyes. It has to be the fact that she carried the lil thing for nine months. I don't know, all I do know is shes an amazing mother to my boys. Shes being so patient with Alec and Evan. She involves them in picking out outfits for Owen, and lets them hold him. One person in the house distracting me throws me all off. She does a great job with our ever changing household.
Well enough cute and positive stuff.
The NCAA tourney is killing me. West Virginia was my dark horse and UT's last second shot crushed me last night! Then Duke lost was fine but it destroyed my bracket further. I guess thats why I don't ever gamble - I can't even win in a non monetary bracket.

Don't worry

Things are going well my brothers from another mother! Owen is a sleeper and eater only, the boys are being awesome around him and behaving brilliantly and Kelly is getting her rest. We had a family meeting last night and the boys are all on board. I love family meetings the boys take it seriously and its fun resetting the rules and seeing how they respond. We have started reading them a chapter from the Bible a night and they love it. Well Alec loves it and Evan seems pretty interested too. I honestly have no clue how people do this with all three or two kids out of school. No Way! Its awesome for Kelly that her three oldest boys are out of the house by nine I'm sure her and OW party like rock stars - well at least get their rest. You folks with two or three kids in the house all the time are my heroes. Jeffy would die! Things are really going well and lets hope it continues.

UPDATE:
Please don't worry, things are going well for me. Its been a rough transition from the hospital to the house but I think things are going o.k. I'm getting my sleep - I think Kelly gets up during the night - something about feeding the baby but I sleep pretty well. I'm surprised at the lack of pain - I thought sitting in the hospital chairs for 10-12 hours would hurt my back but I seem o.k. I just would like to thank my friends who had me in their hearts -I think things will be o.k. I have to go now - I think the baby's crying so I need to go remind Kelly to take care of that!

Here we go!

Well we are officially a family of five. Different very different. I won't go on and on about me son. I'm positive me talking or not talking about him will validate my love or proves my lack of love for Owen. I love him but I'm also smart enough to understand alot of you have children and know that its an awesome feeling and yet a feeling hard to describe. Kel is feeling well and other than my little schedule being totally disrupted its Disneyland around here.
I am reading the book Why my wife thinks I'm an idiot..The life and times of a Sportscaster Dad. Its by Mike Greenberg one of the hosts of Mike and Mike in the morning on ESPN radio. The number one sports talk show on the radio. Mike is also an anchor of Sportscenter. He is a Metrosexual, upper class raised, father of two, and hubby of a business women wife. His partner is an ex football player Mike Golic. Its brillant radio and the radio cast is also shown on ESPN 2 from 5am til 9am. With TIVO I walk in every morning from working out and turn it on then pause it. I get the guys their breakfast and help Kel get them ready then come back and play from where I paused - brillance! Anyway back to the book. Its basically his journal entries from the last 5 years with going through two kids being born and all the changes that brings about. I can so identify with what he says it really strikes me as funny. As you can tell by the title his premise is basically that every wife on some level thinks of their hubbys as idiots. I personally am o.k. with this. I believe my wife respects me on some level but I also understand when I call her from the airport telling her to tape a sports show and get home and she forgot (because she was pregnant and taking care of two boys) and I act like she slapped me in the face when she tells me she forgot...I'm an idiot. Perhaps when I spend four hours (watching football) at home while shes running errands and the house looks like a hurricane hit ... I could be considered an idiot. How about when I come home from work an my wife tells me shes not feeling well and before she has a chance to finish the sentence I ask her "whats for dinner" ... maybe an idiot. The best was two minutes ago as she is nursing and I'm blogging, the phone rings and I tell her its her mom (sa ing it like "its not for me") .... could be an idiot. The book just makes me laugh.
I will continue to read it and hopefully get up and check on my wife and new born every once in a while the rest of the afternoon. I hope Kelly starts supper soon!

Owen William Trimble

I just got home about an hour ago. My wife is awesome...thats all I have to say!
We started this great day at 4:00a.m. - ouch. Kelly will give you all the details but we had Owen at 1:01p.m today and he's awesome! Laiddd back - the boy doesn't cry or, for that matter, cause a scene. He is 6 pounds and 12 ounces - 20 odd inches long. Our little baby boy! Has no problem with feeding and really likes to sleep and relax. He doesn't fuss much - ohhh I know - "just wait" but I'm telling you he has done really well compared to our other two so far. I have to say this... Thank You - for all your prayers, I wanted to thank you all in this but I'm dead - no trust me - my wife has done a ton more and I know shes really tired but I do feel a little drained - are guys allowed to have that said? Sorry but I am. Kelly is healthy and beautiful, Owen is awesome and I appreciate everyone today. I really do. I came home at 9:30pm tonight and Chris Deges had cooked enough meat and food for three to four days for my family. I can't tell you how much I love my wife but I love her more because she has great friends who care and as her hubby I thank you all today. She gets home tomorrow at 1:00pm so she will be on the computer at 1:05p.m. with pics on her blog and a complete blow by blow of today.

Remember

As I get closer to my third boy's birth, I start to remember what my past was like. Not my boy's past but when I grew up! I have to tell you it was awesome!! I was a big brother, I kept my sis from getting in more trouble than she already had (which was a lot). I laid in the hallway while my mom watched Dallas on a Friday night. I fought my nap at 3pm in the afternoon cause I knew I didn't need it. I hated a drive on Saturday morning because I was going to miss cartoons. I was scared of fireworks on the forth of July. I was mad at Dad for calling me out at first (when he volunteered to be the umpire). My Dad took me for a banana split after I scored my first touchdown. My Mom and I talked twenty times on the way home from church (after her choir practice) about girls and life. I love the fact that I have these memories and I could go on and on. I really want everyone to know that my parents are the best!! I mean that they were so cool. I have a cool sis who got in sooo much trouble growing up that I dodged all of it. Now I'm the black sheep but she deserves the break. My Dad and Mom have no clue how great they were. Mom was my rock in the beginning and Dad helped me out until now ---- they think thats the what I think - - -but they are BOTH very important all the time. I want to tell you both I love you and I'm ready to be a great Father for Owen because of you!!Later

Back

Im back from Boston, Mass. my lil friends. Wow is it a wee bit cold up there. I went up with 5 students and another advisor to the great North for a NACA convention. Basically we watched comedians, musicians, speakers and so on and so forth. We then decide who we like and try to book them for entertainment for our students next school year. So its really kinda fun, the airport and crowds not as fun. Of course being around a lot of people for five days is not the best but it was Boston. We went and walked through Harvard, toured Fenway Park (Mecca), and went to the original Cheers. Visiting Fenway was the best - I love the Bosox and have since Clemens was a rookie. So it was great to finally see the most famous ball park in the world. Some will say Wrigiley but please ivy can never replace the Green Monster!!! The girl giving us the tour had a reallly thick and wicked Bostonnnn accent so it was really cool to hear her explain. If I had a way to put pics on this I would show you but I'm an idiot.
My wife is getting very close to having this third boy of ours - wow. I'm getting a tad bit nervous, forget the fact that I'm psychotic when it comes to change, I just am excited and nervous that it all goes well. Its amazing how when life is consistent that it is very easy to trust God because we are having a good time of life. We are challenged to trust God when there is uncertainty or worries and it becomes our priority to find a way to get back to walking and talking with him. I guess thats part of our challenge as Christians.

Survivng Valentine's Day

Heres my well documented challenge - my wife isnt really that big on V-day. I tend to be supportive of any day designed to get me a gift. So we are coming to yesterday with two seperate agendas. I'm not all about me receiving gifts I really like to give them but that leads to my first statement "my wife doesn't want to receive them". So this always is problematic as we leave Christmas and head towards V-day. Last year I got ahead of the game and gave her a present on the day or two ahead of V-day and it was cute and things were good. This year I woke up on the 14th without a clue of what to do. Kel had to sub and the boys were in school. Well Its been well documented that my wife is a borderline clean freak and this kitchen floor has been killing her with its potential to be a lot cleaner. So I come back from dropping the kids off and see the Magic Eraser box that helps get the dirt out on ceramic floors. Well a light bulb turns on and I decide to go buy 8 boxes and clean her floor. Well to make a long story short my two hour estimated project turns into three and the bleach from these things is still burning my hands but the floor is clean. Kelly was very happy and I dodged another V-day without disapointing my wife. I also received a cool gift - A webkinz lion named Cherokee. Basically this is a beanie baby with a code that allows me to go to a website and adopt this lil guy then I take care of it. Kelly has bought these for the boys in the past and she got me one. I get to design its room and feed it etc. etc. My girls at MSU are making fun of me but its something my boys and I can do and they have a blast showing how I can care for this thing and buy stuff for it. If I forget to feed or play with it then it will become unhappy and unhealthy. It can be a stressful deal - the boys may have a problem if I killed my pet lion.

Super? Bowl

I watched the Super Bowl on Sunday night because I love football. The commercials are great sometimes the halftime show is good buttt I love the game. Well this year the game was sloppy, officiating bad, half time show awful and commercials sub par. Here's my ratings out of four stars.

Commercials - Loved the Budweiser ones - especially the lil clydsdale one. I had a big problem with the godzilla robot one. That's just a dumb concept and weird. The monkey ones for career builder.com was good - loved the monkey burning cash. I also liked the fedex one with the caveman getting stomped. Still a lot of commercials and only liked about four. Two Stars

Game - A couple fun (big) plays by Pittsburgh and a rather good game moving the ball by Seattle. If Jeremy Stevens, for Seattle, could catch a ball it would have been much much better. One memorable play that will go down in the history of the Super Bowl and a turnover that almost changed the game made this a decent game. Two Stars

Officiating - Whatever momentum was given to the enjoyment of the game (by the big plays) the officiating took away. It truly wasn't just that there was some missed calls. The missed calls killed some big plays by Seattle. In fact they only affected Seattle's big plays. The holding call was flat out ridiculous as was the personal foul blocking penalty on Hasselbeck. The offensive pass interference call was bad but not terrible. The touchdown call on Big Ben was terrible from the linemen's standpoint. There is no way he saw that play completely and should have initially called it a touchdown!! One star

Halftime - Are you kidding me?? Are you kidding me? Rolling Stones live sounds great but they looked old - because they are - and the sound was terrible. Mick tried to sell it and for that - One Star

I have been watching Into the West the mini series that was produced by Dreamworks and Steven Spielberg. Its flat out awesome!! Each disc is four hours and there's four discs. I'm only half way through disc two. I love westerns and the whole Indian/Settler story line. Acting great and story great, scenery awesome!!

I was watching my Into the West last night and looked over and Evan was eating his snack. Kelly was gone and Alec was in the shower. It was great he was just sitting there looking at the cereal box like he was reading it and eating. I think that's one of the things that is so hard to explain to someone who doesn't understand what this parent thing is all about. Every once in a while I just love watching the boys and wonder what's going through there minds. I could care less about what goes through anyone else's mind but its great to watch my kids. The love for the boys is beyond belief and its so hard to explain. You have to wonder what God thinks as he watches us. O.K. getting a little to deep but at least I was able to blog about something other than just the "Super Bowl".

howdy

The 6 am torture sessions are still going on. The fact that I get up is the torture, the actual lifting and running is not bad. I'm telling you I got to a very uncomfy feeling with the gut that I was carrying around. I know its not always about the numbers on the scale. I actually will probably have bigger numbers on the scale or stay the same. Obviously the muscle I put on will conteract the fat I take off. I just have one goal lose the gut!!! Dropping deep fried food is my second decision for torture. Thats very painful.
Its been a very uneventful couple of weeks. I'm not a update you about my day type of blogger. I stand here and apoligize. I need to find the fun and eventfulness of each day and blog about it!
I'm listening to Bowling for Soup - the Ohio song - I love this group. There actually from Wichita Falls and now live in Denton. They always have hilarious and fun songs!!
The semester is off and running - one arrest, one suspected weed smoker, and a couple recovering knee injuries. This is going to be a fun type of semester. We did sign a bunch of new girls for next year and added some needed speed and hopefully goal scoring ability. Well rock on my peeps and keep shooting for the stars!

6 a.m.

Well it has begun! My annual spring workout regime is under way. The torture or as in shape people say "workout" starts at 6a.m. every morning. I have done this a couple of other times and it has worked. The other couple of times I had friends (thank you Chris and Corey) to keep me on schedule. This will be a challenge but I'm pretty good once I start a routinue at keeping it. I know thats hard to believe. Its one of the only advantages of my lil consistency disorder. I have really no problem getting up in the morning - one of the only advantages of being hyperactive. Its really just a matter of helping my workout routinue with watching what I eat. Now theres a problem. Lets talk about that. Sunday afternoon I have had Long John Silvers for the last 50 Sundays that I have been in Texas. Tuesdays I always hope my wife takes her night to go to Hastings so she'll go before she leaves to get fried chicken for me and the boys to eat. I also absolutely love any kind of potato, the only real thing I have going for me is I don't like sweets.
The day starts at 6a.m only because my dumb dog needs out everyday at 6 and I need to get up there to worlout before 6:30 so I just let her out and then get dressed and go. One thing is for sure I'm ready for bed by about 10pm. Well wish me luck and lets see how long this will last...

Mr. Jeffrey Scott Eko

I have survived the week following my appointment with Dr. Torture. My mouth is actually feeling better. I do have one regret, I should have used the incident to cross another thing off my "before 40 to do" list. I have no clue if I'm using the quotation marks properly in that last sentence. I love the show Lost and a character on the show Mr. Eko (I checked thats how you spell it KELLY) I also have no clue if thats a proper use of paranthesis. Back to Mr. Eko - he decides he will not talk for 40 days!! Stuck on an Island with strangers probably allows this to be pulled off fairly easy but still -40 days? Proper use of the question mark? Thats quite an accomplishment. My goal would be no talking fo two days. Two days in the off season without talking. It could be done and I'm the man to try it. The kids would love it, Kelly wouldn't mind, and in the off season I'm mostly emailing and getting paperwork done anyway, so I think this could be done. I have five years to try this. As you all know I'm not one to actually try something outside of my routinue to quickly. I may have to continue to think about it. I was telling Kelly we could really keep ourselves out of trouble if we all had a word limit. No one would have to say "hi" to me as we passed in the hall - it really never makes my day any better anyways. How about taking out the "how you doing" thing that people ask without really a care to how we are actually doing. I'm not trying to mimic a comedian but you get my point. Was there a run on sentence back there? We could all read, watch T.V., shop, and do anything without verbal skills! It is intriguing to think about isn't it? Seriously how could you accomplish the no talking for two days thing in a realistic manner. I'm telling ya, dawgs, I'm going to try and find out. I'm not calling you dawgs in the offensive sense - more of the "buddies" sense!

Brutally honest liar

Whatever happened to brutal honesty. Honestly..wouldn't it be fun to say how you felt?? C'mon kids I know its not just me. How many of you have to process, as quick as you can, a response to any question or request for an opinion. "How will this person handle this?" It wears me clean out! Hey, I'm good at it though. I act like I didn't hear it completely and then WHAM I have the response! "Heck yea I love this meal, I'm just not that hungry".
Ohhh I know the company line..There is a time and place for brutal honesty... o.k. lets throw that out. No more talk of brutal honesty. How about just being truthful. Heres the problem - a lot of the times there the same. Now is there a rationale for white lies if they are told to spare a person humiliation or mental/physical harm? I'm sure there is but lets be honest...if your to tell the truth then tell it always! "Did I really back over your foot in the parking lot sir?".. "no, dang it, but I would still like you insurance company to write me a check for the doctor bill from me breaking it on my scooter"Isn't that the point of shows liks Scrubs.. the "mean " doctor's (Dr. Kelso, Dr. Cox) are hilarious because they are honest! We laugh because we wish we could do that. "Why don't you have any friends?"" "Well Mom, I told everyone how I actually felt" So is there such a thing as telling to much truth? If we didn't, wouldn't that be telling a lie? I don't know anymore, I would love not to be neurotic and just tell everyone how I truly feel but then I could be in real trouble. Fake smiles and laughs are my way of life. My friends used to think I reminded them of George on Seinfeld because I was so good at stories and lies. Boy, thats something I want on my tombstone! I have a creed - to go to bed without the world mad about things I have said. That could be all messed up with this honesty thing!
Wouldn't it be fitting if I could finish this blog with a list of things I have told people I liked or disliked and actually was telling them the truth. Dream on - I got to sleep tonight!

Wisdomless

Well, Wednesday I had the great opportunity to have a wisdom tooth removed. Fun times for Mr. Trimble. The Dentist gave me about five shots in the mouth to numb it then left to allow the numbness take hold. As I'm waiting for the numbness to take hold, I realize THE NUMBNESS IS NOT TAKING HOLD. He comes back in and asks if its numb, I say nope so he gives me a few more shots. Same routinue occurs and we wait for 15 minutes. Comes back in and goes to work. Now I mean he goes to work - this is not a simple lil thing. He leans in and grabs whatever the death Eastern block torture device that he bought on Ebay to do this procedure and start to work on the tooth. Well, my lil friends, I come off the chair like A.J. Hawk sacking Brady Quinn. He comments "did ya feel that". I'm on the floor crying and giving up all my CIA conections. "Maybe we should numb it some more". Yea, that sounds great, commrade. So I get the third set of numbness's and cannot feel the shots (I'm numb) except for the last one which was a quick and smaller shot. Great, now the sensitive area has the least amount of painkiller. So the routinue starts again and he comes back. Its better but I'm still feeling the pain - I'm determined now not to say anything. Apparently wisdom teeth take as little longer to come out cause this ole boy was working it like a Lumber Jack in the Northwest. Finally after 14 pints of blood and my fourth time passing out - the tooth comes out. I get it packed and am told to take four Ibuprofin for pain. Ibuprofin? How about a shot of Jack and horse tranquilizers. I'm in pain! Well I'm still alive and have not had much luck with the Ibuprofin that I'm taking but it gets better everyday. Maybe I'll live - now to explain to my superiors why all my CIA brothers are getting nabbed!

Shout out!

O.K. dang it, Ben left so I have to try to cheer my friend Alyssa up! I gotta be funny...gotta be funny. The best way for my humor to come thru is.. for me to make fun of someone I know completely...my wife! I'm kidding. Time to get the "Jeff Trimble" ego in check

If I were a car I'd be a... a Honda Accord - consistent and good gas mileage - I'm not the sexist choice but I'm consistent - I know, you single women, stay back I'm taken!.

If I were a color I'd be... Tan - lets not get crazy people..no need to get all bright or too dark!

If I were a Movie I'd be... Raising Arizona - off beat humor with no box office results - OUCH!

If I were a store I'd be... American Eagle - no one gets more mileage from plaid and flannel than me!

If I were single I'd be... A loser no one thinks.."Consistent and old school" is sexy.

If I were a mechanic, carpenter, lawyer, accountant, judge, doctor, anything to do with details I'd be.... broke!

We will be praying for Alyssa and for Ben. Alyssa please don't break the guy with your "depressed so I need to spend money" phase!!

Vacation

I have made it 7 days at my parents and 5 at my inlaws. Its been fun. I am ready for the warmer weather of Texas. I like the cold weather but this rainy 50 degree weather is a little to in between for me. Either snow so we can sled or get warm so we can get outside.
Christmas went well - its fun being an adult because there is not as many things that I want and the few I do, I'm lucky enough to get. I really wanted a Ohio State jersey, the second season of Nip Tuck and Madden 2006 - got 'em all!! I also got a cool book about the CIA from my sis!
I now enter into the slowest time of the year, not much to do with my team and almost done with recruiting. I watch a lot of high school games and spend more time with the boys. Its not a bad gig.
Kelly asked me the other day if I ever thought what life would be like with Owen in the family. I really haven't thought about it much. A baby again - its been six years since Evan was a baby. I am going to have a small adjustment to my routine. Baby's tend to render me useless. I'm not really good with them - their fun to hold but the whole vulnerability of the child freaks me out. I'm much better with my maturity level - the famed toddlers! Anyway it will be another wild ride with the whole baby stage. Thank goodness my beautiful wife is great with the small creatures.

Damon!

Its been a weird week in sports. The Damon thing is just ridiculous. By the way he is no longer "Johnny Damon" I prefer Damon. Say it fast and it sounds like "Darn him" - can't type cuss words this is a family show.
Heres my letter to Damon -

Hey cool guy,
Thanks for your years in Boston, you were truly a great player for the Bosox. You were the perfect guy for us. You were a leader in the clubhouse, a great leadoff hitter, stole some bases and had reallly cool hair. Theres just a couple things that you need to know. By the major league baseball standards, you are a B+ leadoff hitter, didn't steal all that many bases, the yankees don't need another leader and your hair is not allowed in the communistic society that is the yankees. Now don't get me wrong we will miss you and it won't be the same. I know, I know, the Yanks offered you 12 million more than our Bosox's did. We only offered you 40 million for four years. Its got to be an insult that we only thought ten million a year was your worth. I mean we got swept out of the playoffs last year, you sucked by the way, so we may need a few of our dollars to go and improve but a man needs respect. The Yankees gave you that, your a professional athlete who apparently needs to be respected. In fact I think we insulted you with our ten million dollar a year offer and for that, my friend, I apoligize for the Red Sox. Have a great time playing for a team that buys World Series Titles - wait I know the Bosox have a big payroll but you have to admit - we won on chemistry and destiny. Your yankees will win on egos and ummmm sell outs.

P.S. Tony Dungy's (Coach for the Indianapolis Colts) 18 year old son died on Thursday. Tony is one of the classiest coaches in the League and a professed Christian. Even if he wasn't these things, my heart would still go out for his family. I won't act like I understand what him and his family is going through and to be honest I hope I never have to.

What??

We made it, we are now in the Buckeye state (Ohio). It was a good trip. Drove 95% of the way but I'm not complaining - it seems the older I get the more controlling I seem to get. Very odd for me.
Sunday was not a good day. How in the world do the Cowboys get their meal money stolen from them that bad. The Redskins - are you kidding me? How do we let the Deadskins beat us up like elementary school children on a junior high playground? We can't run the ball and we have the Statue of Liberty back there as a QB. Bless Bledsoe's heart he is good but we have to hold our blocks for thirty seconds to let him get set or he's a dead man. The defense is just getting wore down and our special teams, well there, special alright. Special like when you stick your finger in a light socket four straight times, expecting not to get shocked each time.
Heres the cherry on top of my brocoli sundae. Johnny Damon has signed with the Yankees. Alyssa, that would be like the Gap selling all its product to Kmart and Kmart raising the prices. No clue if that helps but thats all the analogies I have for you. Johnny the heart of my beloved Bosox has signed with the %$#@&*@*&^%$# yankees. Honesty Johnny, the yankees? I can honestly say that hearing that news really put me in a bad mood. My wife always teases me about taking my sports to seriously but I told her the news and she was amazed. I'm sure inside she was outraged - she hides her feelings well. I'm really not sure what to do now - be mad at the Red Sox's for not working hard to resign him orrrr mad at Johnny "the Traitor" Damon for well being a traitor. I'll stick with my anger for the long haired Damon. I have nothing more to say the pain is still to real!
